My family and i will be going to Disney in september for are 5th time. We have tried many of the Disney resturants. This year we are looking at trying many new resturants. We have one more Sit down meal that we need to go to. We are haveing a hard time deciding weather we should try the San Angel Inn or just go to one of are old favorites. Comments on you experience will be much help Thanks:)

I'm a fan. I like the atmosphere... we usually try to hit it for an early lunch and get a table along the railing so you can watch the boats go by. But I'm probably also biased because they have a separate vegetarian menu. If you haven't been there and like mexican food I'd say its worth a trip.

I also like it a lot. We typically go for lunch. The atmosphere is great, it isn't too hard to get a reservation and we love Mexican food and margaritas, so it's the perfect place for us. I'd recommend the Tostadas de Tinga (it's an appetizer) and the Avocado or Blood Orange margaritas. :lovestruc The only thing I'm not crazy about is the new salsa we had during our trip last week. It tasted like BBQ sauce instead of salsa...not a fan!

I kept avoiding this restaurant because of the reviews but everytime I would look at the menu I liked what I read, so I booked it. Well, this has been one of our favourites for my entire family. We have a couple of restaurants that are "must do's' each trip and this is one of them. If you do book, leave a little extra time and start off with the boat ride inside. You won't be disappointed.

We really enjoyed our dinner here! The chips and salsa, margaritas, Pollo a las Rajas and Sirloin Rellenos were delicious. The other dishes were not as memorable. The 3 other members of my family preferred La Hacienda, but I would give the edge to San Angel because of those two main dishes I named above. The same chips and margaritas are available in both places. I think every place is worth trying for yourself; you never know when you're going to come upon your new favorite!

We ate there for the first time in December as part of the CP package. I had wanted to dine there since I was 4 and absolutely in love with the boat ride in the Mexican pavilion. It was a dream of mine to eat overlooking that river and the pyramid. We had a very mixed experience.

The atmosphere was amazing, though the tables are placed a bit close together. The food was good, but not great.

What really killed it for us was the service. We had the CP lunch package, which they time after the usual lunch rush to fill more tables. I think our ADR was for 2:00. We were seated very quickly and it all went downhill from there. After we were seated, our waiter introduced himself and said he'd be with us in a moment. Didn't even take our drink orders or fill our water glasses. He was gone at least 10 minutes before taking our drink orders (and keep in mind, the restaurant was less than half full at this time, so he wasn't slammed). The CP package included an appetizer, entree, and dessert. We ordered the appetizers and entrees at the same time. After finishing the appetizers and waiting a significant time for our plates to be cleared (no entrees at least 5-10 mins after we were done with appetizers), the waiter came and asked if we were ready for our check. My mother had to politely remind him we had only received one of our 3 courses. He looked dumbfounded and we had to ask another server to ensure our entree order had been put in. We ordered desserts immediately when our entrees arrived, for fear it would take forever. He also forgot our CP vouchers with our bill although we had already mentioned we had the package twice.

It took us about 2 hours for the meal and we were almost late to the CP because of it. The table behind us sat for 45 mins and did not even receive their drinks before leaving. We heard them talking to the manager and asking if they could get a couple fastpasses to compensate for their time (one of the guests seemed to be an off-duty CM and knew this was common practice when meals take a long time). The manager didn't seem to care and told them he had never heard of restaurants giving FPs for bad service.

If the service had been better, I'd probably visit again, but the food just wasn't good enough to compensate for that factor. I won't condemn a restaurant on one poor server. I think it's worth a try, even just for the atmosphere, but there are too many good restaurants in EPCOT for me to return anytime soon.

We love San Angel, and prefer the lunch menu over the dinner menu. One thing we loved about it was that they were more than willing to give us an adult portion of a kids meal (cheese quesedillas) for my grandma who is a picky eater.

We have eaten there several times.

This was also the first restaurant we ate at on our first trip to Disney also.

This last December we were on the deluxe dining plan. We ate lots & lots of awesome meals all week long.

I booked San Angel Inn for our last meal of the trip at lunch. We were seated at a table for 2 by the river & our meal & service was awesome! It was a perfect ending to a perfect trip!

The only drawback to the restaurant is lots of tables very close together.

We have dinner reservations here in a couple of weeks. I do not think we have a way to change it to lunch due to our touring plans. However, I just noticed on the menu that Chicken Enchiladas are only offered at lunch. That is about the only thing my husband likes to eat. Do you think they will let me order them at dinner? Thanks!

This was the first TS restaurant I ever ate at in WDW years ago. As PP's have said, the atmosphere is great! If you like Mexican food, why not give it a shot?

Was there in nov. for dinner, it was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had in a Disney restaurant. So my vote is yes.

Our family was not a big fan. We love mexican food and eat Mexican at least once a week. I'll give you the chips and salsa were good, but if the food can't stand on it's own merit, I won't go back. You might say that I'm a Mexican food snob :lmao:
As I recall there were corn and peas in the rice. :scared1:
For families who don't eat a lot of Mexican, the atmosphere was terrific....
Good luck on your choices.

My background is southern Texas for 5 years so I'm a little critical on mexican food...

I would definitely try it! For the price I dont think the food is worth it, but im used to paying $5 for carne asada made by an old grandma at a mom & pop taqueria. What you do get is atmosphere. Other than maybe Blue Bayou at Disneyland the Cantina de San Angel offers the best "atmosphere" for dining in my opinion. I dont think it'll keep the kids to excited for long but the passing boats on the Rio del Tiempo (Gran Fiesta Tour) give them something to look for.

Pros: Atmosphere
Service
Cons: Expensive "cheap" mexican

Salud!

My family eats Mexican food all the time, and I'm trying to decide between planning a visit to San Angel or if we should head to La Hacienda for dinner. That's interesting that they'll substitute a kid's meal for a picky eater. I'm the odd ball in my family that's not hugely in to Mexican food--I'm pretty picky about what I eat.
