I've never bought meat at Sam's. What do you think of it? What meats do you like there? I'm most interested in items like chicken breasts, filet, pork tenderloin and turkey breast (if they carry these items). I do buy the frozen salmon and tilapia filets and have always been happy with these, but never the meat from the meat case. Thanks for your help.

I usually buy my meats at Sam's, especially the pork and beef. The quality is usually better than my local Kroger, and unlike most grocery meats Sams (at least here) doesn't add flavoring solution(to enhance flavor:confused3).

I do not recommend the chicken breasts. DH bought a bunch of it when we went last time and they were huge! Like each half breast easily made 3 cutlets. The problem was the texture of them, almost rubbery. I refuse to cook them again.

We buy all of our meats at Sam's and really like everything. I love to get the pork tenderloin and have them slice it up for boneless chops. One tenderloin is usually $13 or $14 and is enough to split up into 3 or 4 meals. I agree about the chicken breast that the PP mentioned. I bought a 6lb package a few weeks ago and it had 6 breasts in it :scared1: That's HUGE!! I usually freeze those separately and use 1 for soups or in the slow cooker.

We also like the 80% hamburger, we use the chicken strips(much better than the breasts), the bacon is good as well. We package it in smaller sizes then freeze it. I have them cut the pork loins into 1 roast and the remainder into chops.

I disagree about the chicken. Yes they are huge but we cook them on the grill and in the crockpot and they are great everytime. Just had some tonight cooked on the grill w/barbecue sauce and they were excellent. Nice and juicy and flavorful. The steaks are very good also.

I agree about the size.

I only buy them when I find them on manager markdown (cheap!!) and when I break the pack up to freeze I label them as being from Sams.. I only use them for the crockpot, where it doesn't matter how big they are.

I do love the chicken tenderloins, though. I generally have them slice a pork loin up for me into chops which lasts us forever.. Don't buy much beef anymore as we bought a 1/4 cow awhile back.

Used to only buy meat there, though!

we buy our ground beef, sirloin tip roasts, chicken and beef stew meat at sam's. it's all wonderful. never had an issue with it. if they don't have any in the meat case, i just push the button and ask. got some beautiful roasts on friday afternoon, cut fresh while i waited. as a matter of fact, they're the best looking ones i've ever bought. i get the tyson frozen chicken breasts, not the stuff in the meat case. i buy it from the meat case for my aunt sometimes though, and her family loves it.

I had a grocer tell me once that the freshest meat in my area was at Sam's club because they have high volume sales so the meat does not sit around very long at all.

I will purchase all meats except any chicken (raw) product. I feel that is inferior to any other stores in our area. I can usually find the same prices on chicken if I wait for sales.

The rest of meats/fish I have found to be of good to very good quality.

We buy alot of our meats from SAM's (its 70 miles away so when we go we stock up). I think the chicken breasts are fine..if they're too big I just cut one in half for the two of us :) Also, buy the 93% lean hamburger..I will not buy the rolled hamburger anymore, even if it is supposedly the same lean-ness...it seems much fattier and with bits of ick also.

Add us to the list of Sam's club meat lovers. There pork is the best around and they have great selection of higher end steak cuts...

I buy just about all of my meat at Sam's. I have a business membership so I go early. They usually have a lot of meat that needs to be sold/frozen in the next day or two on sale. I've never paid more than $2.25/lb for 90% ground beef.

Once I get home, I separate it into meal size portions and freeze. DH got me a Food Saver for Christmas (on sale and used 30% off coupon at Kohls ;)).

I've never had any problems with the chicken breast. We grill a lot but I also marinate.

One of our favorites is the Applewood Smoked Bacon seasoned pork roast. We cook it in foil on the grill. :lovestruc

I also like the meat at Sam's. The chicken breasts usually have so much fat/nerve and gross stuff that by the time I trim it into usable pieces it costs as much as the perdue which is better trimmed at Sam's and less expensive than the supermarket.

I agree with the pp regarding the pork loin. We've made it on the grill- we use a rotisserie and although I don't eat pork- we've always gotten compliments from guests. I like the idea of getting a loin cut into chops.

The sausage is very good and we've had some good steaks- but I prefer my local butcher for specialty beef.

I do not buy my meat from there. My aunt works in the meat dept and tells me their standards have went down hill. The pork and chicken are now injected with a solution. I can find my meat a local meat market cheaper and not injected with stuff.

Well, Alice loves Sam's meat....

We buy the majority of our meat from Sam's. I can't beat the prices :)

Best steaks in town for me and way cheaper than a specialty butcher. Went to both once and the sams steaks were thinker and looked way better.

Last month my local Sams had 90% lean Ground Beef for $1.59 a lb.

It is excellent and I stocked up. It is very lean and very fresh.

I dont buy alot of meat at Sams because I can often shop sales at Tom Thumb and Albertsons, Kroger for less, but everything has been very good. The have a clear window where you can watch the Butcher prepare the cuts.
