Just got an email from Sams club (The discount Makro style arm of Wal mart) in response to my question aboit visitors from the UK jopining and this was the response:

Thank you for your message.

Dear Obi,
You can purchase SAM'S Club memberships online at www.samslcub.com and also at local SAM'S Clubs. The cost of a membership is $35.00 for an individual, and includes one primary card and one complimentary card for someone in your household. Thank you, and have a great day!

For further correspondence regarding this issue, please reply to this email.

If there's a Costco in the area, I would recommend them. Much nicer than Sam's.
The food department of Costco is amazing and they have very nice fresh prepared food (e.g., caesar salads, fruist plates, etc)...really good quality...
but i don't know if they have branches in Florida...

I just looked it up...I found two Costco's in Orlando...one in South Orlando and the other in Winter Park....
it's more expensive than Sam's to join.....$45/household membership..
you can apply in person and you'll be issued the card on the spot...

Can anyone join Costco now? It used to be that you could only join if you belonged to one os their stated organisations.

in the past it was only for businesses....but for quite a while it has been available to anyone (for a membership fee)...

when i was on the website just now i noticed that you have costcos all over the UK........i wonder if they're as nice there as in the states.....in Michigan they tend to be in upper income neighborhoods......

the following is from their website:

Gold Star Membership
Gold Star Membership is available for individuals who do not qualify for a Business Membership. The Gold Star Membership is $45 per year, which includes a household card.

---------------------------------

Business Membership
Business Membership is available to all licensed businesses, nonprofit
organizations, government agencies, farmers and ranchers. The $45 annual
membership fee includes a household card. Additional Business Membership cards are available for $35 each, and include household cards. Business identification (business license, resale certificate, or three pieces of business ID) is required when applying for Business Membership.
--------------------------
Executive Membership
Executive Membership is our highest level of membership. Executive Members
receive a 2% Reward on most Costco purchases, and extra benefits on member services, such as lower prices on check printing, auto financing, overnight delivery and long-distance phone service; larger Costco Cash card amounts for mortgage, real estate and home equity transactions; one-year free roadside assistance for vehicles covered through the Auto Insurance Program; and extra travel benefits.

How do I become an Executive Member?
If you're a Costco member, you can upgrade to an Executive Membership by calling 1-800-220-6000, or by visiting your local Costco warehouse membership department. The Executive Membership upgrade is $55 for both Business and Gold Star primary members, but will be prorated based upon the months remaining in your current membership. Your new membership card will be sent to you, along with a packet explaining the entire menu of business and personal services available in your state. Your Executive Membership card is valid at any Costco warehouse worldwide.

We used to go to the Costcos in California. The couple of Costcos that I've been to over here are almost exactly the same as the ones we went to in the US

also if you join sams club, and pay the 35 dollars, you can then after your holiday is nearly over , go in and get your 35 dollars back! so you can rejoin every time you go back!
costco will accept the uk costco card we used our card there last year and bough loads of cans of pop and crisps in bulk.

That's exactly what we did in August. Costco membership in the UK is only open to businesses and Civil Servants etc. I think that anyone paying $45 can become a member in the US.
