Sam's Club - What Do You Buy (Besides Disney Gift Cards)

We buy most of our meats there, the boneless skinless chicken breasts are cheaper than they are normally on sale, and the hamburger is super cheap, as well as the pork loins!

I also always pick up a big thing of spinach (open it and stick a paper towel in, replace the paper towel every week ro so.. the spinach lasts for about a month, which is INSANE!), and romaine!

Plus cases of water, garbage bags, etc etc.

I've found that you make a lot of your money back on hygienic products. Stuff like razors, deodorant, etc. I also like buying my meat there. The quality is better and you get a better deal. There are also great holiday gift items starting soon. Gift baskets, etc. Plus the gas is cheaper. You'll make your money back.

Not much. IMHO but in comparison to Costco selection of higher quality food in bulk, I found very little at sams other than gift cards.i like the free memberships to try places out tho,which is how I learned this.(love Amex)

Drinks for sure - flats of bottled water and the smaller size Gatorade.
My kids love Gatorade in their lunches, and the smaller size bottles are perfect.
DD school sells bottled water for $1 each, why she won't just take a refillable water bottle is besides me, so I will happily pay $4 for 42 water bottles.

Pull-Ups, we still have one needing night time Pull-ups, we get the mega pack, lasts over a month

school snacks, the mini hummus with pretzel cups, DD likes their spinach and artichoke dip, she scoops it out with an ice cream scoop, take a little bowl in her lunch box, other similar type snacks that are just the same old boring thing over and over

Frozen breakfast - Eggo waffles, microwave bags of mini pancakes

Rotisserie chicken- their chickens must weigh at least 3 lb to be sold as the rotisserie chkn, or they will shred it into their fresh chkn salad.

My Girl Scout troop hosts an annual dance, and we purchase 90% of our snacks from Sams for the dance.

I buy tires there, and most of hour household paper products, detergents etc. Dog food in large bags is a bargain as well.

At Sams/Costco we usually get medication (things like vitamins, motrin, zyrtec... stuff that we take every day), kraft parm cheese, lemon juice, meat, and some cleaning/paper products. My Sam's stopped carrying DVDs and books, but we buy those things almost exclusively at Costco because of the prices. I love Sam's clothing selection (the Mickey jammies from 2 years ago are the best!).

The main thing I buy is asiago cheese. It is $5 a pound and is the best stinky cheese ever. Half a pound makes a meals worth of Alfredo.

I buy a chicken if they look good. Their organic spinach is a little cheaper than Kroger. We also buy ranch powder (super cheap compared to packets), bread flour, and rice. The flour and rice come in huge bags but overall are much cheaper per pound. I also grab ten pound bags of pinto beans for $6 something.

Meats by the case are a good deal too. I got 92% lean ground beef for $2.79 last time. Chicken breast varies, sometimes it is as low as $1.67.

Oh! The best deal for us is the generic Zyrtec. I can't remember exact numbers but you get a ton super cheap.

We used to buy pretty much everything we consumed except for soft drinks at Sams. However, customer service at our local Sams Club has become horrible to non-existant.

Because of that, we switched over to Costco, and shopping there is a much better experience. Better customer service and much shorter waits in line.

I have a business membership so I go early. I get a lot of fresh meat that is reduced for quick sale. I package it at home with my Food Saver into meal size packages for the freezer.

I like to buy household items, like garbage bags, toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, laundry detergent, etc. One box of garbage bags can last us over a year. Other than that, my husband loves buying cases of gatorade and energy drinks for his lunches. I like the cases of shelf stable almond milk and big boxes of veggie burgers! Protein powder and vitamins are another one I usually get there too.

We have a business membership but no where as cheap as $18 that a previous poster mentions. Ours is almost 45 bucks or more a year. We buys tons of stuff at Sams - about 1x a month or month & 1/2. Meat, paper products, vitamins, frozen food etc.

Around Christmas they put iTunes cards on sale. I stock up and we use them for gifts and to pay for our Netflix subscription.

How do you pay for your Netflix subscription with iTunes cards? Do you have Apple TV? I have my Netflix through my ROKU box. I'd love to know how to pay for it with iTunes cards if possible. Thanks.

Never mind. I looked it up and you had to sign up to Netflix with an Apple device, which is obvious. Heh. Not worth the hassle of changing it.

Definitely second the "know your prices" sentiment, as some things at warehouse clubs are good deals and others not so much, or not at all. On a side note, does Sam's accept manufacturers' coupons? I know they didn't before but was wondering if that has changed over the years.

The only bad thing about Sams/Costco is all the extra stuff that seems to jump in my cart!

The running joke is our house the the wet suit my husband had to have that he has never worn.

We don't have Costco so I can't compare. I actually don't like the fresh fruit and veggies in our Sams. The lettuce is always mehh and I can usually get a better price from Wegmans. There was once an entire stack of strawberry cartons out that were white with mold. I am guessing ours is a store problem.

I do buy Sams brand paper towel, toilet paper, and Tide detergent (except last time they didn't have the one I use and I had to switch to total clean variety and I am not impressed). I buy candy/snacks when I am putting together gift bags for our local fair. I also buy bottled water that we use while camping at the fair. Also the frozen veggies someone mentioned above. While I can get them cheaper per single use bag in other stores, they seem to be a higher quaility from Sams, so I actually pay more for them (about .50c) . When we drank Maxwell House coffee, the savings on that in a year paid for the membership. Since Wegmans now carries the club size in cereal at the same price, I tend to buy that there instead of Sams just to make the biweekly shopping one stop.

The one thing that stinks is they will drop or change brands carried. Forever we had been buying their sweet potatoe fries... and then they switched the brand they carried and they are not at all as good. So we haven't purchased them in years.

You have to know your prices to really save.

100% this. My DS takes Zyrtec daily and buying the generic at Sam's is a huge money saver. Even that and toilet paper were the only things I bought all year, my membership would be worth it.
