Sams Club Questions

We got our bill for our renewal for Sams Club---$100! I don't think it's ever been that much! I am seriously considering cancelling. I love to shop at Sam's, but seriously I don't think I can justify paying that just for the ability to shop there. Our closest one is about 45 minutes away anyway. I'm wondering about the one day passes. How often can you get them? What extra costs do you incur w/those? Since we are so far away I could probably get by shopping there about 4 times a year, but not sure how often you can get one day passes.

The last time I used a one day pass, it was a 10% up-charge for using the pass. So, basically, if you're spending more than a grand a year, it's worth the $100.

I just renewed mine in March and it was only $40 or so. I know that there is a higher membership available that is about $100.

Are you sure that the $100 isn't for their plus membership or whatever it's called. The one where you pay $100 to get discounts and coupons....makes no sense. Our membership was the usual $40 this year.

They are trying to silently upgrade people. It just happened to me. It's like restaurants who offer you water then bill you for a bottle. You have to ask for tap. When i questioned the membership cost thats when the cashier told me i could renew at the regular cost.

Yep, they are trying to upgrade you. Just go in and tell them you want the $40 membership. I don't buy the stuff they have coupons for so the $100 membership doesn't make sense to me. But I can't live without my Sam's membership.

Yes, they are trying to get you to sign up for the new membership. I just renewed and like the others are stating it was no more than 40, want to say 36ish. The other membership you can use coupons and such but for me the items I'm buying I do not have coupons for anyways.

The Plus is $100 and the regular is $40. We had the plus because it gave us a free extended warranty on a TV and just renewed at the regular rate. The coupons and other perks from the plus weren't anything we would use.

Just an FYI on the plus membership and the extended warranty. We bought a new TV from Sam's last year in June. Our membership expires in July. We were able to get the plus membership prorated. So we only paid for one month of plus membership ( $7.00, I think ) and got the free warranty!! I was a little worried that we were cheating the system but it was the store manager that recommended doing this.

Like the others said the $100 is for the plus membership. We exclusively use our sam's club discover card for all purchases and having the plus membership gets us a higher % back on each purchase so it is well worth it for us!

Like others have said, this has to be for a Plus membership.

I've had a business card for many years. Last year they sent me a card offering to upgrade it to Plus and 1 year renewal for free. I took them up on the offer but next year when the membership is up, I'll be going back to the standard business membership. I've taken advantage of a few of the offers but honestly it was for stuff that I only tried because of the coupon savings.

You all were right--it's the Plus. Even though they ASSURED me when they offered me the plus for "3 months" that there would be "no automatic renewal--this will just be for 3 months". GRRRR--so then I had to get on the phone and listen to the frustrating phone system messages and prompts. DISLIKE! They credited me $60 bucks. My membership is $40, and it's worth that to me.

That is what we did, they suggested it. We didn't even know there was a plus mbrship at that point.
