My Sam's Club has $150 Disney Gift Cards (3x$50) for $142.98, but my store does not take Visa cards. It's not a huge savings, but I'll take what I can get. :rotfl: My Walmart counts as a grocery store, so I get 2% back in Disney Visa rewards. (I'm not sure if this applies to GCs purchased there as well.) Does anyone know if I use my Disney Visa card to purchase Walmart/Sam's club GC AT Walmart if I will in fact get the 2% back AND if I can use that Walmart/ Sam's Club GC to then purchase the Disney GCs at Sam's club??? TIA

I don't have a Disney Visa, but IME with other cards, I get the rewards based on the total purchase, even if it's GC's.

Please keep in mind that it has been several years since I did this, but I did exactly what you are asking. At the time, Sam's Club was selling disney gift cards for slightly less than face value and they came with a bonus disney store gift card, so I wanted to take advantage of this offer to pay for my trip but I was planning on using a Visa which Sam's did not except. Here's what I did. Walmart and Sam's are next to each other, so I bought one gift card at Walmart and took it to Sam's and used it to buy a disney card. There was some confusion as to whether it could be done, but one of the employees at the service desk knew how to do it. Once it worked, I went back to Walmart and bought the rest of the cards and went back to Sam's to finish. I had to have the same employee help me because others did not know how to handle the transaction. I suggest you do something similar or you may be stuck with lots of Walmart gift cards if you have a problem. Good luck!

Great advice

This is a GREAT idea!

I checked the Sam's club site and it says you can pay in person or online with a Walmart shopping card. Shopping card?? What the heck. So I called walmart and they said it's the same as a gift card. The online site calls it a refillable shopping card. So....we can buy gift/shopping cards at walmart for up to a $1,000 denomination with our disney visa (accumulating reward points) and then pay for the Disney pack at Sam's. The online site says you can pay with up to 4 gift cards so not sure if that is the same in person. The website says this is only online but it appears this is available in person.

Then I called Disney and she said, yes, I could pay for our disney tickets using these gift cards, either in person calling out the numbers or on the telephone but not online.

SO....it appears this is a GREAT way to save 5% off our tickets AND off our cabins, which I just reduced the overall price using the annual pass rate, which suddenly appeared this week!

I compared rates at Disney, AAA, and UT and using this discount is the best ticket rate overall. So thanks for a great tip! It's better than the target red card deal cause I don't have to add another credit card to our credit history.

HOW MUCH CAN THAT PENNY BE SQUEEZED? TILL MY FINGERS ARE COPPER COLORED! :thumbsup2;)

I thought there was a thread somewhere here that says that Sam's Club closed that loophole? Usually you cannot use a gift card to purchase another gift card.

This thread caused me to think about something.

I can get a Walmart reloadable shopping card on my Disney Visa and then use it at Sam's Club and refill it as needed.

Finally I can get my 2% at Sam's Club!:cool1:

Nope, it works! :thumbsup2

I just went to walmart and bought 2 $1000 gift cards ($2,000) and 1 $145 card. The system didn't want to accept such a large purchase so we had to buy each separately. But...I paid for these with my disney visa, so reward dollars there. I walked out with 3 cards, signed into sam's club, placed an order for 15 3-packs of $50 gift cards ($150) for $2250. The check out was easy and they are on the way!

Next step is to call Disney and call out the gift card numbers to get the tickets we all need. Whew!

I'm going to take advantage of the Kroger quadruple point promo that just started. For each $250 of cards we buy, we'll get 1000 fuel points and up to $35 off 35 gallons at a one time purchase. The point are good till the end of the following month. We'll do this for a bit to pay for the Fort cabins. :thumbsup2

I did it just three days ago. Cashed in my capital one points for a WM gift card, then used it to buy Disney cards at Sam's.

Our Sam's Club does not take VISA either, but I am able to use my VISA debit card by scanning it, clicking on "other payment" and then choosing "credit" rather than debit. I've been doing this at our local Sam's for three-four years, and they still say they don't take Visa.

I know this is an old thread...

The system actually allows SAMs to accept Visa but the cashiers are prohibited from accepting them. Reason is that SAMs didn't get into an agreement with Visa so they pay a hefty percentage per transaction. I've scanned my visa credit card by accident a couple of times and it went thru no problems. I've also pied online with my visa again without issues.

I've posted about this - looks like OP ought exactly as I did. I did confirm that the Disney visa does gives us 2% but as long as the register is set to report transactions as groceries. On super walmart, you want to use the registers by the groceries. Chase. Said they do not get a detail of the transaction so it will trigger the 2% as long as the register is set as grocery. Same deal with Target in 2011 when they had the gift card deal coupon. Those transactions paid with my Disney visa triggered 2% since my local Target was set as grocery.

Now, about what the OP asked, I've done exactly this last summer when they were selling the $50 cards for about $46.59 (around 7% off).

They now replaced them with the three pack in store but my local one has not replenished them since the winter. Online, they have the $50 available for $48 and change.

I purchased an annual pass last week and was told by three different CM's that I could only use two forms of payment per transaction. I had $100.00 dollar gift cards and could only use 1 and my credit card to make up the difference.

I'm not sure how AP's work, but I put $300 worth of gift cards towards our cruise balance about two weeks ago.

Correct- for ticket media (of any kind- park, ap, parties) you can only use 2 forms of payment.

For resort, cruise, etc reservations- you can use as many forms as you would like to pay your balance.

I believe if you call the Ticketing Department, they can accept as many gift cards as needed to pay for the tickets. I bought DVC AP's and called Member Services first. They were only able to accept two forms of payment but they patched me through to the ticketing department and I was able to apply all 10 of my gift cards without a problem.

Someone posted the number here on the DIS but I'm not sure where it went.

They somehow got around this form me at guest relations in downtown Disney. Not sure how or if they still do it but they pushed through lots of gift cards a couple of years ago when we upgraded to APs.
