we are in a situation where we won't buy APs until down at WDW for day 1 of our trip in 3 weeks. So no pre- booking FPs for this trip.

Can people tell me how has same day booking worked for them? Is everything available at least at the start of a day or are things like 7DMT never available?

And how will this work? I go to the FP kiosk at park? How crowded have the kiosks been?

Thank in advance!

I have changed/booked on the fly just about every time I've been since it started. I don't seem to have any problems using my phone to book while in the parks, I know some people do. I always travel with my little Lenovo Yoga laptop so I can sit in my room at night and book for the next day. I've never used the Kiosks so I can't speak to that. Also don't know about 7DMT since I've never even tried for that, no kids so it's not on my radar.

We got everything last week and basically no lines at FP+ kiosks (actually they assign ipads if it's busy), but 3 weeks from now will be a lot busier.

We have book same day FP+ at Rope drop and have never been able to secure 7DMT. Everything else is great and if you get back to fantasyland you should be able to ride the other rides in the morning with little wait

I would head straight to 7DMT and book your 3 on MDE while you're in line, if possible.

We just came home today from 2 weeks at Disney. This is probably 'one' of the slowest times at Disney and I was able to change a few things around, BUT, it usually meant having to change parks completely - that was to get one of the headliners that we wanted. Some of the other rides were available. We always either have hoppers, or this time AP's - otherwise, we would have missed out on some rides we wanted.

I made our changes a day, to three days in advance, tried a couple mornings for the day, and everything worthwhile was gone. I would think it would be 'very' hard to get same day headliners in busy times, unless you were very lucky and got someone's cancellation.

I never saw any of the kiosks busy, but again, I think it was because very little was available. Usually, I walked right up, the most I waited was on one person, and only 'one' time was I able to get another FP I wanted, after using our three.

I really feel for people coming in for just one day with no advance FP's - Disney is taking your money saying you have 'equal access' when this is 'not' true!!

Depends on your flexibility. I bought an AP yesterday. Couldn't get A&E for tomorrow at all. Could get 7DMT - but not really at the time I wanted. It was hard to line up things that made sense in the time frame I wanted - but I'm not flexible in my planning for tomorrow.

Yesterday - I could never get the app to work on my iPhone. It would open, slowly, and I could get to select FP's, but it would never actually connect to book the FP's. It would be "loading" forever. Line at Adventureland FP kiosks was terribly long in the late afternoon, but I didn't check the kiosks with known shorter lines.

A few more days out, choices are wider with better times, but not as good when I booked 60 days in advance.

So - if you can be flexible - you'll likely get much of what you want - but if you are rigid in your park selection and timing, you might be disappointed.

I was terribly disappointed I couldn't get the stupid app to work on my phone while in the park. That's just wrong. If they could fix that problem, same day FP's wouldn't seem like such a hassle.

Early mornings can get you some great rides with less wait.

I can't buynthe tickets ahead-some people are buying special tickets that are only will call.

I intend to be flexible and it is good to know I will at least have a chance to get most things. If not, I will do rope drop and head right for the thing I want. Other issue is mom will be coming so power walking to any ride won't be an option.

Nothing beats fun at the parks!

I cannot pre-book FP. They are not normal tickets. 2 people are buying special tickets. I can't elaborate more other than to say, I cannot pre-book FPs. I am 100% sure of this fact.

Thanks for the info about same day and few days out FPs. That's going to be our situation.

We just got home today after a 2 week stay at Disney and not once did dh or I have any issues with the Disney parks app. There were no glitches, and it wasn't slow. We were wondering how it would be, because our last trip there nothing worked.

But, will say, you can only get additional FP's (after initial three) from the kiosks, not the phone app.

Yeah, I have never had any issues with the app either- works well for me. I have never waited until getting on site to book FPs so that was my only concern. I am sure the app will work fine.

As someone said above, it's unlikely that SDMT will have FP+ times day of as the crowds get busier. But just go there at rope drop, head to the right of the hub, the day we were there that was the only way into fantasyland, the other entrance from Liberty Sq was blocked off bc they were still cleaning, dunno how often that happens though.
