I just read that the Kidani Pool will feature Uwanja Camp which will be an interactive play area and Samawati Springs Pool with a slide..

Hopefully the Samawati Springs Pool is a typical resort pool geared for kids and adults?????

Does anyone know the answer to this? Depth of the Samawati Springs Pool?
Thx............:goodvibes

Can't find artists depiction right now, and don't know ultimate high water level but depiction shows they are going to have large areas where you just walk into the water as if you were on a beach (no step-down) and obviously anywhere near those entrance points is going to be low level

we would've added on @ AKV if they had put a lazy river in ala SAB, not interested in what appears to be in current favor-water play areas for the kids

zero entry pools are more inclusive, just wish they'd offer a deeper pool (5 foot) for the adults

Here's some pics taken from the AKV DVD:

Interesting looks at the pool. Thanks for posting those, pilferk. I don't know where the thread went but a few days ago someone posted some cool aerial shots of Kidani Village and in one of them you were able to see the pool area and you can already clearly see the outline for the main pool.

If ANYONE could point me to that thread, I'd LOVE to see those pics!!!

Yes totally agree a deeper pool for adults to enjoy would be a nice addition :)

Claire ;)

im thinking it may be a liability issue w/so many children:confused3

im @ the point where my youngest DS will be heading off to college soon, empty nesting whether we want it or not:sad2:

still, the DCL ships do have the adult only pool...i'd settle for a designated adult-only hot-tub:idea:

But alot of hotels with no lifeguards have deeper pools than WDW, even the depth of the beach pool at PBH is nice at its deepest.

Claire ;)

:goodvibes which i why we are staying @ that U onsite hotel in October:thumbsup2

I also like the idea of a deeper area for adult swimmers. Sometimes you just want to tread water and not just stand in the pool. (I'm short, so even water a little over 5 feet would be much appreciated.)

Pilferk:

I think you might be looking at those images incorrectly.

The layout above appears to be just the kids play area. I think that pool to the far right is just a shallow wading pool. If you look at the image I doctored below, the blue oval highlights that wading pool thru the trees. I also put red circles around some of the round structures more in the middle and to the left of your image above.

The main pool appears to be off the bottom of your image. It's the white area where the words "proposed construction" appear.

I don't want to come across as stirring the pot but I do think some people are going to be a little disappointed with the pool once they see it first hand. I previously took some of the construction blueprints from both SSR and AKV. Taking scale into consideration, the Kidani pool is about 20% smaller than SSR. Now that is just the pool itself, not taking into account the play area.

Just looking at the artist rendering, they've drawn about 25 people in the pool, and you're nearing the limit where folks would be comfortable. Imagine this pool rendering with 2-3 times as many bodies.

This will be a nice complex for those with small kids, but many adults are going to be frustrated, IMO. Not only is this pool area geared toward kids to the extreme, but there is no "quiet pool" either.

Personally I'm still looking forward to trying it out in a couple of years, but once the resort is open I think that will be a popular complaint among members who were hoping for something a little more adult oriented.

These are my thoughts on the pool complex as well. I've seen some of the same pool size scale drawings and know it will be smaller than many Disney deluxe resort feature pools. The even more disturbing part is the size of Kidani Village compared to the size of the actual pool. The positive is this is going to be a nice complex overall. There will be a pool bar and some nice shaded area.

There's an assumption with DVC that the DVC resort should leverage the amenities at its neighboring resort. I can completely understand that philosophy as it helps keep our dues in check, but sometimes it can create capacity problems. Take the Mara for instance; with no CS option at Kidani the Mara could become very, very crowded.

You'd think with as large as Kidani is going to be, that they'd plan the pool accordingly...

I will admit that there are things I would have liked to be different at some of the DVC resort pools. But I will say that, and I know I am probably the only one, I don't see the hype about SAB and am looking forward to seeing the new Kidani Village pool area. I think most of the pool areas should be made larger and SAB is no exception to that either. JMHO.
And I think that adding pool features for kids is exactly what the DVC resorts need to do.

And I think that adding pool features for kids is exactly what the DVC resorts need to do.

As the father of two kids, ages 7 and 5, my first instinct is to agree with you. But then I start to wonder how I'll feel in 10 years (when the kids are ages 17 and 15), 20 years (ages 27 and 25), 30 years (ages 37 and 35), etc. We bought into DVC with the goal of using it as a vacation solution for much longer than my kids will be interested in using an "interactive play area."

I understand that one of Disney's primary markets is families with young children. But at times they seem to ignore the fact that those young kids will be out of the nest in a decade or so, leaving us with another 40 years of ownership at a resort that now appeals to a different audience.

Again, we're still in that target demographic so I'm sure our kids will love the pool for another 6-8 years. After that, the kids will either be branded "those annoying teens who ruin the play area for everyone else", or they won't have any desire to stay at Kidani. Members who are DINKs or empty-nesters now could be really disappointed with the facilities from Day One.

In 20 years you may be the coolest Grandpa in the world "who lets us stay at his house in Disneyworld!" Just a thought...
