Just did some looking on amazon, it's called "The Worthing Saga", http://www.amazon.com/Worthing-Saga-Orson-Scott-Card/dp/0812533313/ref=pd_sim_b_18

The cat is adorable! I like Link too, Legend of Zelda remains one of my favorite video games of all time. I even bought a nintendo gamecube a few years ago just so I can play it again. I sometimes get motion sick from the new video games, which is kinda sad.

Lol, I love that picture your DF's cousin made! :lmao:

And Congrats on the house! That is awesome! Don't worry the whole thing is really scary so it's totally normal to feel like that. Buying a house is the weirdest process, it'll feel like things are happening really fast...then it's like nothing is happening at all...and then you're ready to close, lol. It'll be a little stressful but I think once you guys are in the house you'll be even happier with it. :goodvibes

Congratulations on your house! How exciting! Being a grown-up does suck, doesn't it... well it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the bills and the work and the responsibility :rotfl:

Oh and your kitty is super cute too :cutie:

Yeah houses are scary! We are in a condo (that we own) right now and we were looking for a bigger one but we decided we had to wait until after the wedding.

Congrats on the house!!!!

i love the kitty as Link, haha he should go anger a chicken now. I dont know why I loved doing that so much.

Thanks Sara. Mike loves Zelda, and since it's his cat, and I really think the picture sold the deal. This has totally gone really fast, but I'm so happy and excited.

Congratulations Sam that is soooo exciting!

Thanks Amy! I can't wait!

Yes, growing up is kinda stinky, but on the other hand, it means lots of Mike and me time...and our Disney wedding!

Yeah houses are scary! We are in a condo (that we own) right now and we were looking for a bigger one but we decided we had to wait until after the wedding.

Sam- We decided to live at home before buying a house, so no condo. But it would have been nice but we're close with our families (me a little more so...ok a lot more so) so it's been a great way to save money.

Congrats on the house!!!!

:rotfl: Thanks Amanda! He does look SOOO cute. We were told NOT to name him Link because then he'd go around the housing, breaking pots.

Hahaha :rotfl: How perfect!!

Sorry about the lack of updates. Things have been very hectic here lately. We have school board elections, along with a vote on the budgets, and unfortunately my districts and mike's did not pass. So there goes my job security. We got our RIF letter, stating how unless they find the money, I don't have a job. And we're still in the middle of purchasing the house, and now we are freaking out. Do you buy it anyway, with the hope of a job, OR give it up? Not moving out is not an option (at least for Mike anyway), and chances are we are going to have jobs, if not in this district, in a different one. I've have great observations, and the district I was in before still loves me. Their budget passed, and people are probably retiring so there might be a job there. For now, we are going for it. I know we'll be able to make the mortgage payments and we'll manage, even if it means working different jobs or multiple jobs. It's just been super stressful. :headache:

Not much wedding news. Almost 180 days! We have to figure out meal plans, ADRs and the such. And we're about to book the other 2 nights after the wedding. We can't decide to book just a regular standard CR room or go all out for the MK view (of course this all depends on the job situation as well).

Any ideas or opinions?

180 days!!

So we've hit the 6 month mark this week. Sorry for the lack of posts. There is just a lot of stress about work and the house. We're sure we'll have jobs next year, there is just so much craziness going on.

There's more drama going on, but I can't get into that right now. As for wedding news, we have yet to book a hotel for after the wedding. I can't decide whether we want to do a garden wing, regular tower room, or MK view room. With all this job drama it's hard to commit to one thing or another. Haven't made any dining reservations yet, but I'm waiting to make the V&A reservation. I think we're going to make some group reservations, but I can't think of a particular one I want to make for just us.

It's just so hard making wedding decisions right now when it's hard to get passed all this school drama.

OMG your kitty is so adorable :goodvibes

Congrats on your house...that is so awesome! And you are getting so much closer to your date, yay :cheer2:

I hope all the drama passes and things start to get easier for you! DH and I both came home to unemployment from our wedding (I just graduated, and DH is still in grad school) and it kinda sucks. It is nice to spend time together, but we need $$$ to save up for a house, new car, more trips, etc!

Thank you so much! Congrats on graduating! I'm unsure what to do grad school wise so I just started working figuring I'd go later on, when I decided what I wanted to study. I'm too indecisive.
  • As for the house, we went through inspection and the mortgage and so it's just the waiting game for now. Job wise, DF's district took a pay freeze so at least he has a job (hopefully!).
  • A little bit of news for the wedding. I'll be 1 bridesmaid short. My brother broke up with his girlfriend, which is very sad and we were friends. But it's the best for my brother and he seems alright. (They knew it was coming). I'm not going to go into detail for privacy's sake.
  • We just booked our flight down to Disney from Newark, but we're going to wait to buy the Hawaii tickets (so much money!)
  • Still debating on where to stay: MK view or regular. Any opinions??
  • Booked V&A's for the 31st. I was debating between Chef's table and the regular dining room, but with the TIW card, I just couldn't pass up the discount
  • No other dining reservations. I can't believe it! But I just have no idea where to book plus F&W = lots of unplanned yumminess!

Hey Sam, I am just starting to get caught up.

I am sorry about the -1 bridesmade. Thats never fun. My sister broke up with her bf right before our wedding and it was sad for all of us not to have him there.

If you can book the chefs table for V&As you should def switch and do it - I have never done it, but I have heard it's worth the money. V&As overall is a great experience but the chefs table is nearly impossible to book. So if you can do it, do it. If not - you will still love the dining room.

I think you are staying at the contemp? I am usually not a big fan of paying for upgraded rooms BUT growing up we always stayed in an MK view tower room there. When we were little my parents liked being able to watch fireworks after we were put to bed, and I guess they just got hooked. I always liked it because we could sit on our balcony and watch people go down splash mountain popcorn:: So if it's in the budget - this is one of the few times where I would def say go for it.

I am so, so far behind. First, I must say your kitty is super cute, what was the final name pick? Maybe I just missed it. :cat:

Sorry to hear about the uncertainty with your job. Education has been hit really hard in Michigan too and quite a few schools are closing and districts are consolidating, so I know how scary it can be for people.

Congrats on getting the house, DH and I bought our condo 1 week before the wedding and it was so exciting to have our first place together :goodvibes

MK or regular view? I think it depends on how much money you have in your budget. MK view would be great, but I would probably have higher priorities for dining and other experiences. Who knows, maybe you would luck out with some pixie dust and get an upgrade after all.

sorry about the drama. I am with Bride-to-be on the contemporary room. That MK view rooms were pretty much a staple of my childhood growing up. It is so nice being able to sit in bed and watch the fireworks without all the crowds. Another thing disney does is they upgrade people if they have open rooms and if you are a frequent disney visitor and/or you are celebrating something. So depending on the business of the season you could book a garden wing wing room and then at check in make sure to mention your getting married there and act extra happy and maybe some pixie dust will come your way!

this has happened to my parents on 3 seperate occasions.

Thanks for catching up! I do really want to try the Chef's Table, but we've heard it's best to go once regular and then do Chef's Table. I do really want to do the MK view

Thanks for catching up Vanessa! We decided on Link, and in 2 weeks he will be ours. I also have high priorities on dining and we want to do a dive, and we're going to Hawaii afterward so it is hard to spend the money on that.

I have hoping for the pixie dust Amanda. Especially if we'll be checking in wearing our wedding attire. :wizard: The issue is we don't know what the budget is since I don't know where (or if) I'll be working next year. So it's hard to commit to something.

As for wedding news, Mike was getting dresses for a school function and was wearing his skeleton tie, with a gray vest, and a blue undershirt. And it gave me an idea.

(Disregard Mike's face, he was cranky because i told him his pants were too big and he was in a rush and didn't want to pose)

What about this for the groomsmen? Neutral color ties, gray suits, with colored shirts?

Sam!! I loooove your new BM dress choices and the colors of them! So cute! The colors are so pretty together. :thumbsup2 Now you must forgive me, as I don't recall what Mike was planning to wear the day of? I think that combo for the groomsmen could be cute, I'd just be sure that it wasn't going to take away from your handsome groom. Other than that, I dig it. ;)

Oh, and of course! The kitty is sooo precious! Are ragamuffins at all related to the ragdoll breed? My cat is a ragdoll, and he's the sweetest most docile feline on the planet. So yay for rag-type kitties! Hehe.

Hey Anj! We are fairly certain Mike is going to be wearing a morning tux.

So we picked up Link this weekend, and Mike is totally in love with him. Unfortunately he wants to make sure Link attaches himself to Mike so I have to be hands off for a while :guilty: And we brought him back to both our houses. Almost all of the cats growled at him, but he doesn't seem to care. Link just walks right on up on them. Now, Emme (my cat) is coming with us and Emme is really mine and Mike's cat (but I'm her #1). Well Emme was very upset at Link being there, has been acting very sad and "off" and totally hissed at Mike. And she never hisses. It's like she knows Mike bought Link to be his baby, and Emme is very upset. And of course that makes Mike sad so it's been a little tense here. :guilty:

Additionally, remember how I was all nervous about my job, then they told me I had it, then when the budget passed I was riffed. Well it's official. They are cutting lab periods from Chem and Physics so that means i have no job for next year. And we're closing on the house soon. So it's been very busy between house paperwork and looking for a job, so sorry if I've been MIA for a little bit. The wedding is a little on the back burner. We are going to Disney for the planning session in a few weeks (yay!!) And we definitely need to register. Any advice??

I'm so sorry to hear about the job. I definitely understand the stress of being jobless. I wish you lots of luck in finding something new.

That is exciting that your PS is coming up soon! Do you have lots of plans while your there? (Or did you already post about that and I just totally forgot).

You should definitely register for the Disney Honeymoon card. At least that way you won't need to spend a lot of your own money on your honeymoon stuff.

Oh Sam! I'm sorry to hear about your job! I've been thinking about you as the war between Christie and the NJEA rages on! I hope you can find something quickly. I'm sure there is major stress with the house and wedding to pay for.

Hang in there and don't let this spoil your wedding planning fun - you are going to have your DFTW in just a few months which will be totally wonderful and everything will work out with the house and job too. :grouphug:

Keep us posted on your progress...and Link's! :)
Oh and definitely let us know where you decide to register! We need to do that too. I was hoping to use the Disney Honeymoon registry, but there have been so many complaints here, I'm a little afraid to use it!

Anyway, hang in there! pixiedust:
Leah

Definately use the honeymoon registry and keep us posted on all of the planning session news. Sorry to hear about the job, DF has been under-employed since he lost his job last summer so I understand some if the stress.
