That is ridiculous. I'm so sorry to hear about your situation! It's crazy to think that teacher's jobs are being cut when all we hear about it how much we NEED teachers!!! :confused3 Hopefully you both make it past any cuts they have to make but I understand it's stressful not knowing.

I hope you both make it through ok.

I know how stressfull weddings are when you're worried about jobs. DF and I worked at the same hotel for just over 2 years when he was suddenly let go. He has not found a comparable position in the 6 months since so we are now not as secure as we were. Not to mention our commute is a LOT different now and he still has to find something more stable... we too were looking to buy a house but we have decided that is definately an after the wedding thing now.

Oh no!
I am sorry Sam!

*Sigh*
I really hope you guys get through this without getting cut. I am sending you mad good vibes and hoping for the best. I know how it is, whenever get get the state budget cut hysterics we feel the same way.

Maybe start working on a back up plan just in case, sometimes these are forks on the road that take you to places otherwise left undiscovered.

Thank you guys for your support. I found out on Friday that I do have a job in my district thankfully, but it's split between other high schools. Which stinks a little, but they ended up cutting the other new chem teacher and the only reason why I was kept was because a) I can also teach bio, so I can teach more classes and b) my mentor really fought hard for me. So I'm happy and grateful, but a little disappointed. This will be the 4th and 5th school I'll teach in, and I never even student taught! Oh well.

As for wedding news, I made a newsletter and I'd to post it but I don't know how to post PDF pages on the Dis. Also we booked our pre-wedding room and my parents rooms. We ended up renting points via the Dis Rent/Trade boards and we ended up getting a deal for renting the points from the same person. So we'll be arriving on the Tuesday (10/26) and booked a BLT studio for DF and me until the wedding. On the night before the wedding I'll move to my parents room, a 1 bedroom studio where my brother (the man of honor) and his girlfriend (a bridesmaid) will also be so we'll have plenty of space to get ready. My parents will be arriving on 10/27, and will leave that Sunday. I know the DVC counts towards minimums but not towards the free night, but we're saving so much money that if we don't make it, we'll just pay for it. Mike and I are planning on upgrading to a Contemporary Room with an MK view. Do they have honeymoon rooms? Anyone stay there? I don't want to bank on getting an upgrade for the wedding so I figure we'll just pay...any other ideas?

Sam, I'm so sorry to hear about the job mess! I am going to school to be a teacher and graduating next year is not looking promising for finding a job. Me and DF were going to start looking for a house too, but now we are thinking of getting an apartment instead in case we have to move so I can get a job. They are cutting everywhere! It's so frustrating that when you get hired you aren't guaranteed your job the next year. I am glad to hear you still have your job, even though it stinks you will have to switch schools again. Hopefully this will be the last time and you can get a permanent position soon. Have fun with the wedding planning, hopefully it will take your mind off the job stress.

I totally feel your pain Amy. What are you interesting in teaching? It is really ridiculous, how many cuts there are. I know the economy is bad, but the kids are there and they need teachers. The truth is, this is hurting them the most.

I love all of your Wedding Inspirations. Looks like your wedding is going to be beautiful.

Thank you Becki! I hope so. I often worry my tastes are too eclectic and out there and it's not going to come together at all.

BTW, I made up my first wedding newsletter! I made it in publisher and changed it to a PDF file. Does anyone know how to post those in the forum so I can share?

And Happy Easter (and passover--it's almost over!)

Hey everyone! I've been on Spring Break and have been busy with wedding stuff! First was the newsletter (which I still don't know how to post it yet). Secondly, I think I found a place to buy Mike his ragamuffin cat (it's a difficult breed to find...we'll have to drive 6 hours to pick him up!). And thirdly, I've been on a hunt for BM dresses. I posted on the main board and just fell in love with anna elyse dresses (Thanks Bridget!)...but not those prices. $300!

So I've been hitting up the usual sites. Haven't found any at Davids, but I was checking out dresses and found something similar.

Possible solutions:

Unsure about colors but I like the styles. (PS I don't want strapless or halters. I have a very busty and very unbusty BMs)

:goodvibes Thanks! I'm actually thinking of using all 3 styles. I just don't want to the girls all in the same dress (we've got 6 between the 2 of us)

My girls are wearing 3 different dresses so I am a big fan of that! Just make sure they are all the same fabric! and I was told they should all be ordered at the same time so they are cut from the same piece so there isn't any variation.

I'm such a pain! Not only do I like the different dress styles but I kinda want different colors too (like in the inspiration pic :goodvibes) so that eliminates that problems, but thanks for the heads up. :thumbsup2

i put mine in different style dresses as well. i let them pick whatever style they felt most comfortable in they just had to be matching colors. i think it looks better that way, it breaks up the monotony. I like all of those styles that you picked out. the 3rd is like the color i had with pink flowers and it looked really good.

wow, these dresses are very cute. do you have an estimate as to how much they run? Im still searching for BM dresses and nothing on Davids Bridal really sparks my interest

That's what I fear....too much monotony. I want each girl to feel comfortable and unique. Plus I don't want it to look like an army of bridesmaids.

I googled the dresses to see what prices came up (They are Dessy styles d439, d440, and d444 [I think]). They averaged around $145, much better than Anna Elyse.

i searched your name over there and your not really mentioned at all so dont worry

Haha! I searched for my name too! :surfweb: I'm only mentioned as being quoted in Amanda's thread. I can't tell if they like her or hate her. :confused3 I was just curious if they had an opinion of me. I'm too inquisitive...or just a dork.

its cool, i did the same thing, then i logged in and told them to stop making fun of my bridesmaids shirts and that i know they looked horrible already :lmao:

:thumbsup2 Well at least you knew it! I'm sure there will be things that don't turn out great, but overall yours was beautiful.

Here's the photo of Mike's wedding present. We're going to get him in 2 months. Too cute!

oh my god....so cute! i just want to rub my face in him! he is so furry!

Just found your PJ. So I'm reading the posts linked in the start of this thread. And these are my thoughts as I'm reading.......

I LOVE your proposal story. So cute and romantic!

I like dress 7 the best and think it looks most flattering. Plus the back is really gorgeous!

Your ring is also gorgeous! (And I love Costco, by the way! LOL!)

I realize these floral ideas in post 16 were posted last year so they may have changed by now. But I really love them. I love Fall colors so much. If I ever have a vow renewal or something, I'd want to do it in the Fall. Oh, and we did silks at our wedding and I'm really glad we did.

AHH! I love argyle too! not sure about it on a cake but it could be interesting.

I also love the idea of the pin trading starter kits. Great idea!

The greens and purples for the flowers in post 91 are very pretty. Purple/green together are pretty much tied with Fall colors for me. Very pretty. And I just love non-rose bouquets. I mean, I don't mind a few roses. But I find mixed flowers much more interesting.

The beaker with the monogram is fantastic! So cute!

I really love that room at Living Seas. I'm not going to lie, I've mostly been skimming your posts so I can get caught up. Is that where you decided? Have you booked it? Have you had a planning session with Disney yet?

For bridesmaids dresses, I like the idea of having similiar dresses of the same color. That way each bridesmaid can have a dress that's best for her body type.

Okay, I think I'm all caught up now! :woohoo:

ETA: Woohoo! You chose the dress I liked best! :)
