Sale Pending on DVC@AKL - pending plans Peak XMas season- will we get a res?

We are trying to buy resale and currently have a contract that went to ROFR today. Provided all goes well and we get through ROFR and Estoppel in a timely manner, what do you think are the odds we'd able to get a reservation for Peak December Season? (right after XMas and into the New Year) The contract we are hoping to buy is for AKL. We're already into what would be the 11 month booking, and by the time it closes (hoping it will), we're going to be into the 7 month arena.

We currently have package reservations through Disney at another resort and if worse comes to worse, we can just keep them as is and bank our points if we don't get a room at our new "home resort". It'll give us a nice vacation next year. As soon as we get our ID, I'm planning on jumping in to see what's available.

We're very new to this, very excited about it, but also feel like there's a ton of things we're missing. Looking for expert booking advice!

You might be able to get AKL as a split stay, depending on what you're after. Once you're past 7 months for that time period, your best stretch is going to be at Saratoga.

I guess it won't matter much to us, we're going regardless so if we bank, so be it!

Split stay may be possible. But if you're booking between 4-6 months, that's just a brutal week to book.

I assume by split stay - split it btwn AKL and somewhere else, correct?
Never done that so I'm not sure how I feel about packing it up and moving on for the remainder of the stay.

You didn't specificy what type of room you want to book. A one-bedroom is much more likely than a studio.

Once you hit 7-months, I suspect there will be no studios available anywhere on New Year's Eve, but an SSR or Kidani waitlist might have a chance.

If your stay includes NYE, you may have a problem. That night tends to fill very quickly at all the DVC resorts. Good luck!

Thanks! It'll be a bummer if we can't get in there, but the bottom line is, we do have back up plans and we can always bank them.

Getting nearly anything between mid-September and after the marathon gets tougher to book when you are only six months or less. If you just went to ROFR , figure at least another two months until you get booking access.
