:yay:I have started to pack for my upcoming Disney trip, and came across one of my "MUST HAVES", and I just wanted to share this with everyone. I am sure some of you already know about this GREAT product, but for the ones that don't...

Fir the past several years, I have been using safety tattoo's for my now 5 year old son. These go on just like any other temporary tattoo, and last quite a few days. They are printed with your cell phone number on them, or any other contact number you wish. I can't think of any child that wouldn't welcome a tattoo, and they offer them in boy and girl varieties.

I usually put them on my son in a place where they can't be seen readily, but would be easily found if needed-high on the upper arm, or even the inside of the forearm.

This dodges the stickers on the back of the kids, and the safety pinned notes that can get lost or caught on something.

Anyway, I can't say enough good things about this product! Enough ramblings...here is the link:

I hope someone finds this post useful!

ENJOY!:thumbsup2

I ordered a pack of these last summer. I'm a fan. :thumbsup2 Of course, I watch my children like a hawk, but you NEVER know.

what if your cell phones dont work in the parks?...our didnt work in MK last time for the most part of one day and isnt that all that fits on them?

The ones made by Safetytat have lines for 2 phone numbers so if you have a 2nd one that works better, that's an option. I'd also contact security and after telling them my child is lost and getting their usual "lost child" protocol started, I'd ask them where a public phone was so I could call my cell phone's voice mail and see if anyone left a message. I figure there's a good chance that if someone does use the number on the tattoo and doesn't get an answer, they'd leave a message - hopefully saying something like "your child has been found and is being brought to the Childcare Center".

thank you...Im just a stress monger..we lost our 5yr old last year in Sea world and it was only for 5 mins but it was enough to scare me to death...we didnt have ID on him and he got so scared he forgot our phone number which he can alway recite on demand...luckily another Mom found him..that and me shouting his name loud enough for the whole park to hear!! It really is your worst nightmare that anything would happen. Im going to order some safty tattoos also try put something on him saying where we will be if he goes missing. He was playing on the large playframe/boat...we and he didnt know you could climb down the other side, we were standing at one side waiting on him and he had gotten off the other wandering about looking for us...scary scary scary.

I read a thread recently that talked about tats for kids. I think they sound wonderful and would gladly put them on my 4 and 7 yr olds when we go...but someone posted a good question...if not for these boards or using these in the past would you have ever checked a child for an unseen tattoo with a phone number on it?? I never would have before reading that thread, and I still won't. I'd drop the child off with a cast member and mention the possibility of a temporary tattoo with a phone number and let them check.

I guess if I do them I will put them on my child's arm but in a more visible area...maybe peeking out a sleeve or something. Even if though my child is able to tell someone they are wearing a tattoo, I'm wondering if it would even cross their mind when they are distraught and scared.

Do you think cast members know to look for tattoos? Just curious as to whether I want to spend the money or stick with a tried and true ID bracelet. DS had one on our first trip when he was 18 months. He didn't like it at first, but got used to it. I think DD would LOVE it as she is all about the jewelry!

Thanks for posting about these...I'm curious to what others think!

Happy travels!

CM's aren't allowed to look under children's clothing (privacy violation, too much liability for risking being accused of molestation) so ANY identification has to be clearly visible from the get-go.

That's why tattoos on an exposed limb, lanyards with an ID card, bracelets or anklets with ID, a sticker on the back of a shirt with a phone number, or a shoe tag tied to laces or similar are so important as anyone can easily see them. If a CM can't see ID, they will not go looking for it.

That was kinda what I thought. The same thing for me. I wouldn't go searching...because my luck the parents would walk up and wonder what the heck I'm doing.

We talked to my son (He was 3 the first time we used them) all about his tattoo and what to do when you get lost. But come to think of it, I guess there really isn't any harm in putting them in a little more visible place since it doesn't have the child's name on it, just phone numbers...maybe this year we will put them on the inside of his forearm! Thanks!

Oh I'm glad people didn't think I was trying to start something. I'm just genuinely curious since we haven't used these before. If a child walked up to me with a tattoo on their arm and I saw numbers...I would then call right from my cell phone. So it sounds like a plan for us!! No names, just DH and my cell phones. We used our phones last time in the parks so I know they work.

Thanks OP - I'm glad I found this thread!

ok, please no flames, but my son is 6 and although he knows our phone numbers, I worry he would forget or get mixed up in a stressful situation. I have written our numbers with thin-line permanent marker on his ankle before (just under his sock) and plan on doing again at Disney. As long as it fully dries, this has worked great and no need to special order tatoos (although the tats look way cooler!).

You can purchase the temporary tattoo paper on Ebay, and make your own tattoos. I did this last year for my 2 yr. old and would do it again. You can put any information you want, make them the size you want, and you can add your child's favorite characters! I just printed them from home with no problem!

When we've had regular kid's tatoos for fun - pictures, etc... They don't always work well, come out well or show well... Are these id ones much better quality than what I've had for fun or is that a concern?

I am using lime green tyvek bracelets and writing my cell phone number on them... If the kids don't like them, they can't remove them, but if they really complain, I can put them on their ankles.

Years ago we want to the beach and my son was gong through a STAGE. He wouldn't tell anyone his real name or where he lived. You know how easy it is to gt lost on a beach, the waves just scoot you down a bit and before you know it...
so anyone I was going to write on his back under his shirt just our phone number in sharpie. I figured that way they would know the state and town we lived in and could search for us that way. The police would be able to get a name and addy from a phone number. I say do whatever you have to do.
