safest way to get from dock in Nassau to Atlantis Resort?

I just read about recent crime in Nassau and I am wondering what is a RELIABLE, SAFE, QUICK way to get to Atlantis? Actually, I booked a room at the Comfort Suites because that is the cheapest option for me. So, I will be going from the dock (as early as possible) to Comfort Suites to get Atlantis passes. I don't want to spend a fortune either- but safety is priority! Any first hand advice/experiences would be appreciated.

We stood in line for the regular cabs, shared a ride with about 6 others and got dropped at Comfort Suites first. It was effortless!

What do you mean by "regular cabs"? How do you know which ones are legitimate or not? I'm assuming you took a van w/6 others? How much did it cost per person?

The cab system in the Bahamas is definitely not like the cabs here in the US. You more than likely will have a very friendly gentleman near the port ask you if you want a ride and he will direct you to a van that he will fill with other people. For 4 of us, we paid $20 to get to (near) Atlantis. There should be lots of cabs/vans waiting to take people to/from Atlantis and Comfort Suites.

I think it was $8 a person? And from what I remember, we just went and queued up with everyone else from the boat and there was an official line. Definitely not like here in NYC but also not like taken far away and scurried into someone's private car. It was a small van.

Hubby has taken a cab there every time we have been in Nassau without a problem at all...priced per person, reasonable and safe.

I have taken my girls twice without hubby. First, they were only 7 and 9. I did go over with some other people I had met online. Taxi was $4. We came back by ourselves. Taxi's were plentiful outside Atlantis. We got dropped off and went right back on the ship. I did it again when they were like 11 and 9. You can do it.
