Safe to buy Delta tickets out of DFW in Sept/October?

I'm thinking of doing this...delta has a policy (i think..doesnt it lol?) that my hubby wouldnt need to buy a second seat (hes a little tubby hehe) like he MIGHT on AA.

You think its safe to buy now? Im a bit afraid. I cant imagine them not flying out of Dallas anymore...
