Hi everyone! We drive down from Md and were wondering if anyone had reccomendations for safe places to stop (to eat (cracker barrel, chick fil a) or use the rest stop)on the way to WDW. We travel through the night on the way down and during the day on the way back if that helps. Its a 13 hour drive without stops...
Thanks!!

We drive down I-95, once we get to it in Jersey, from north-west Vermont and usually stop at Flying J @ exit 104 in Virginia to get breakfast. I now that is close to home for you. We have never had a problem stopping at the rest areas on the way down, then usually just pull into Mc D's or some place like that for quick meals. The Flying J is our one sit down meal and the rest are quick in and out meals.

I love the Cracker Barrel website. It looks like there are 19 Cracker Barrels between Richmond, VA and Lake Buena Vista, FL. Sorry, I know this doesn't help for night time driving. To help you prepare,

Here's a link to a Cracker Barrel Map.

There's a chick-fil-a near Savannah that we've stopped at a couple of times. Georgia I-95 exit 104, Pooler Pkwy. The restaurant itself does not have RV parking, but you can park in the Home Depot lot right behind it.

There's a Wal-Mart on the far side of the shopping center too, if that helps.

We have stopped at several Walmarts on the way down...typically open 24/7 with a bathroom, snacks, and plenty of parking. You can google it on the internet and find lists of RV friendly Walmarts.

I second that, we don't travel i95 but walmarts are our stop of choice. They are well lit, have security cameras and all the food and supplies you might need. We have never encountered one that wasn't RV friendly. Usually there are several other campers there as well, security in numbers.

Here is a link. I remember hearing that there weren't many (or maybe any) RV friendly Walmarts near WDW. There seem to be a lot that you can't park at in Florida.

That's true, and we're not fans of parking at any of the Walmarts. Have done it a few times in various places in desperation, but we had a very scary experience at one of them, and have no plans to stay at one again. There can be some very unsavory individuals that have night time access to the parking lots. :scared1:
