Can anyone tell me the size of the safe in the staterooms? Just wondering if I would be able to fit our camcorder in it. We don't have a small one, but it's also not the big lunker from the 80's.

Thanks,
Nancy :earsboy:

I didn't measure it but it's not big at all. I'd say no more than 8" deep, by 6-7" tall and wide...Like I said I didn't measure...I'm going off memory...but it's smaller than a cubical foot. I wouldn't think your camcorder will fit...Maybe if you have one of the newer super small ones..but a average sized...I don't think so.

We had our camcorder, laptop, digital and 35mm camera out in our stateroom..and had NO prblems with it. I really don't think very many people on the ship will have acess to your stateroom...and those that do they can track if anything should come up missing. Besides your family the only other person that will enter would be you statroom steward...You'll have the same one for your whole cruise..and DCL knows what employees are assigned to each stateroom...so unless you have some sort of problems no one else should be entering your room.

Throughout the boards I haven't found any threads that cruisers have ended up missing things from their staterooms. Not to say it never happens..but so far I haven't heard of any.

By the looks of your countdown timer...were going about one week after you. :)

The safe is very tiny; it probably won't fit. My husband and I bring laptops, cameras, etc. and have never, ever had a problem. We just store them in the cabinet over the television set (although I often leave my laptop out).

We had my overstuffed wallet,documents,2cell phones,2 mens wallets and my sony digicam and camera in the safe and there was still room.Depends on the size of the things you're putting in it.

Yes, the safes are too small for any electronic equipment. They are really only good for storing cash, papers you want to make sure not to lose (i.g. passports), and a few pieces of jewelry.

But basically as others have said, theft of electronic gear is rare.

If it's expensive and small enought to slip in a pocket, place it in the safe. Otherwise, just store it out of sight to avoid tempting other guests from stealing from you while the door to your stateroom is open and the stateroom attendant is distracted.

Thanks tons everyone!!! While staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort (3 different times) we too never had a problem with anyone stealing anything. Once, our DD even left her wallet and all her vacation money ($300.00) laying on the bed. We rushed back after a day at Epcot only to find a stuffed Mickey clutching her wallet. The housekeeper tucked him halfway under a pillow and only had his feet sticking out and left us a really cute little note. I wish I could remember what it said. It was precious. I gave her a really nice tip at the end of the week (along with our daily tips) and wrote a letter to her manager when we got home. Her manager called me on the phone to thank me for taking the time to let her know. Every time we go back to CBR we request "Melanee" as our housekeeper. :earsgirl:
