Safe Sea

Has anyone used this product and how necessary is it?

:confused3

We used it on our first cruise (3 night Wonder, June 04). Never heard about any problems that cruise with the sea lice, but we figured, we were going to wear sunscreen anyway, so we used Safe Sea. I had read that May/June in the Bahamas was a prime time for the sea lice. Safe Sea is expensive, but if my DD (then 6) had gotten an itchy rash, it would have ruined things for us (she would have made US miserable).

We are taking the 7 night Western Caribbean in September, and we will probably use it again.

Not too necessary.

Odds are very low you will encounter a stinging organism this will help you with. Some few, of the tens of thousands swimming in ocean water in your vicinity of the world will get stung. Stinging organisms also don't discriminate where they sting, like places you won't likely apply SafeSea: palms of hands, bottoms of feet, hair and scalp, underarms, under the bathing suit and private parts...

Save yourself some $ and carry a small bottle of weak ammonia / water solution to apply to a sting if you are still worried about it - and actually hit the jackpot and get stung. Also, always shower with fresh water as soon as you can after getting out of the ocean to mitigate any "sea lice", if you are worried about that too.

I've been "stung" twice... both times in Jamaica by tiny little no-see'um size critters. First, we were snorkeling, my hands were locked behind me, I was stung between two of my knuckles THRU my gloves... pulled the "stinger" out... felt like a wasp sting. The second, we were "cliff diving". I was first to go, jumped off and landed on a stinging ocean critter. I had a painful swim back to the boat where I found and removed the "stinger"... from my, um, how do I say this... um, if I were cold I would have been stung on one of my headlights... :scared1: :faint:

I am considering purchasing some Sea Safe because with my familys luck, we will all get stung the minute we enter ocean waters in Feb/March. My children are allergic to Pabba (found in some sunscreens). I looked on the web site for Sea Safe and I even e-mailed them to see if their product contained Pabba but I have not been able to get that information. I hate to order it and pay the price only to find out it does contain Pabba. Can someone who has a bottle of it look at the ingredients and tell me if it contains Pabba? I would really appreciate the help. :confused3

I have a bottle that is the marked FOR KIDS and is for sensitive skin and paba is not listed(active ingredients-octinoxate-octisalate-oxybenzone-titanium dioxide). Hope this helps.
