:grouphug: I am so Happy, they are safe, and w/ their Families, That's one heck of a Pilot, now if i had him, i might be tempted to fly again.

My mom has her pilot's license and she said it was a miracle. The pilot and co-pilot did an awesome job she said!!! The way they lost altitude by going in a zigzag movement - she said the fact that the pilot was also a glider pilot helped him land the plane.

She also heard that a couple passengers are suing, I didn't hear that but if it's true....:sad2:

I read he is 57 and has been a pilot 40 years. He was an Air Force pilot; I really think military trained pilots are best, IMHO.

Those people that are suing should be thanking the heavens they are still alive. No airline can stop birds from flying into planes. Stupid, greedy jerks!

I agree good grief suing over something that is not in their control? :sad2:

When they first showed his pic and gave his bio, I told my sister that HE'S the sort of pilot I'd want. Not some Doogie Howser looking young guy, but someone just a few years shy of mandatory retirement. :rotfl2: He's a miracle worker and a hero. I did mention to DH that he could well parlay this incident into a fortune in speaking engagements someday, but hey.....more power to him. I wouldn't begrudge him a penny.

That's ok, those Sueing, God will get them good!!!!!!!!! They should be Happy they are ALIVE !!!!!!!!!!!

The military does an incredible job of screening pilots and training them...and it's really difficult to get a job with the airlines these days when you don't have military experience.

I've heard that's true. I know someone who got a job as a pilot without military experience. His dad has been a commercial pilot for 30 years. This guy got his solo license at 16 and is 23 now. He was never in the military but he has a lot of training and experience. Even with his dad's connections he had to work very hard to get hired. They really put them through a lot of hoops and it was definitely not guaranteed. He said if he had a military background he would have gotten the job much more easily, and they even told him that, because they know the military's standards.

I hope this doesnt seem stalkerish, this was on the facebook page. He is a member of linked in
