Canadians have to carry passports. Do you all carry passports to WDW as well or the hotels provide lockers for safe keeping. How is safety in Disney hotels for in room belongings left behind when you go to the parks?

Every resort room has a safe to place your valuables - you lock it up and take the key with you for the day - I actually hide mine in the room (shhhh!) so I don't lose it in the parks.

All rooms have lockers, but we actually left it all out, including laptop and nothing was touched. I guess we were lucky, but maynot be the next time, so I would suggest using the lockers.

We've left passports, laptops, money, card keys, etc.,. on the tables at WDW resorts and nothing has gone missing.

I keep our passports and my wallet in the room safe. I travel very light to the parks so we don't have to go through bag check. I only bring my KTW and drivers licence which go in a zippered pocket. Everything else goes in the safe.
One important thing though, you should always photocopy your passports (just the front page) and keep in a separate place in case your passports are lost or stolen.
I would never leave my passports unsecured in the room though. Heck I paid $85 each for them:rotfl2:

Hi - thought I would post my experience. We used the room safe all week for our passports, wallets, our mousekeeping tips envelopes, $400 cash and my blackberry. Just took our KTTK cards with us to the park.

One day got to the park only to realize I had left the safe open. Was a bit panic stricken, but figured it was too late then so kept park touring. Got back to the room to find everything in it's place and nothing touched. I didn't cancel my credit card, and there has never been a weird charge on it or anything. :worship:

Left mousekeeping a $20 tip the next day, though. ;)

General rule...if you can't afford to lose it, don't take it.

The in-room safes are pretty small. You can easily fit your passports inside though. We have put our portable DVD player and 2 Nintendo DS's plus car keys inside. It was really full but we squeezed it in.

I would never leave a laptop, camera or anything of that sort of value sitting out in plain site. At least hide in someplace in the room.

Be careful...We own a motel and chalet business here in NB and one of our customers called from the US border asking for us to go to chalet #7 and look to see if her passport was still between the matress and the boxspring...LOL Not good for her. Another came back 2 hrs after check out to get their passports that they left in a mixing bowl in the cupboard.

It can happen to anyone who is flustered. We carry ours in our fannypack or leave them in the safe. If there is no safe in your room, they probably have one at the front desk.
