safe, inexpensive hotel near Miami airport

Looking for tips on a safe, relatively inexpensive hotel close to Miami Int'l Airport. Have an overnight layover in MIA, and don't want to spend the night sleeping in a chair at the airport. This will be in the summer. Thanks!

You can get the Intercontinental through last minute travel for pretty dang cheap. I'm not sure how close it is to the airport because we actually flew into Ft. Lauderdale when we stayed there. It's a beautiful hotel that you can usually get for close to $100/night (which is super cheap for miami). Good luck on your search. I know when we stayed there, it was cheaper than the Best Western up the street.

The Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Airport South Blue Lagoon has an airport shuttle and free breakfast.

The Element Miami is good too. It's only a year or 2 old, usually under $100. Free shuttle and breakfast plus a kitchen if you want to cook.
