Safe family neighborhoods near Disney?

What a great thread. My wife and I have always talked about retiring to Disney but have recently begun to seriously consider relocating earlier from NJ. Would both love to work for Disney although need to start a new thread to determine whether I'm crazy or not! (We both would have a number of non-Disney options as well). We're in our 40's and have 6-year old twins so good school system is key as well as hopefully finding a nice neighborhood to make friends. I would assume we'll see a large percentage of people with similar interests to us down there!

We are moving into our rental home in Clermont this weekend! It's in the northern part near Hancock and Hartwood Marsh. We couldn't be more excited! So glad things are working out for your family!

After living there for a few months, how are you liking it? We also homeschool and are considering moving to the area.

Clermont is high on our list of potential places to live.

1) Make certain you factor-in cost of gasoline.
2) Based upon where in Clermont, your travel time could be 20-45 minutes each way.
3) And longer during prime Rush Hour on Hwy-192.
4) Nice city, though, and lots of WDW employees live there.

We are really enjoying it here. Clermont if a nice city with many amenities and activities. We live in the northern portion of Clermont and it takes us 35 minutes from our door to the parking lot of MK. There are several homeschool groups in the area. We joined the South Lake Home Educators (SLHE). They have a co-op, activities and field trips. We are leasing for this year to make certain this is where we'd like to stay (so far we say we never want to leave!). We love the proximity to the parks!

My family is really getting serious about moving to FL. Especially my parents. They currently live full-time in their RV, but they will be moving in with us in the next 2-3 years. We have nothing keeping us in KY where we currently live (our family is on the west coast where we're originally from). We're looking at Clermont, Davenport, and Kissimmee, but are open to other areas.

1. We'd need a 4-6 bedroom home - 4 bedrooms if there is a loft area we can enclose. My mom has brain damage and needs to have a place she can escape to that is away from the living room/kitchen area of the home that is enclosed to keep noise to a minimum, that isn't her bedroom, unless the bedrooms are quite large.
2. $210,000 or less
3. A mild fixer isn't a problem as we've enjoyed DIYing our kitchen/baths/flooring in our current home.

My husband installs security systems so he'd be driving all over the greater Orlando area so we don't need to pick one spot in particular to live in. We also homeschool so schools aren't at the top of our list.

Any other areas we should look in/avoid for that price range?
