It's just going to be me and my 3 kids, so i'm looking for some place safe and budget friendly. I plan on leaving disney at 5pm and driving about 5 hours. I usually stay at places like the hampton inn but i'd prefer something under $100 since we are only sleeping a few hours in the room. I have read reviews online and haven't had much luck in finding something decent. I am picky about cleanliness etc. And since i'm alone with the kids and it will be dark and late at arrival it has to be a safe place. Any good known spots off 95 that you can recommend?
Otherwise I may just add a night on to my package and leave around 3am and just drive straight home. I am driving straight through to go down. But, I figured that would be easier because we'll all be excited to get there..lol.

5 hours north of WDW on I-95 would put you in the Savannah area. There are lots of chain hotels just of I-95 in that area.

Just had to give a word of caution here........there are a lot of hotels at the Savannah airport exit, but, please read lots and lots reviews of the place you decide to stay. Very bad experience at that exit a few years ago.....and I did read reviews also.....made reservations at a Marriott Spring Hill Suites (we've always had very good luck with any of the Marriott chains) since we knew we wouldn't be arriving until about 11:00 p.m. (this was going TO Disney from PA)
Well....long story short.....the lobby looked good.....we got up to the floor and got off elevator.......carpeting was very worn and dirty looking in the hallway....got to room and looked very worn, turned light on in the bathroom and a bug scurried to corner...while this was happening in the bath....my husband pulled covers down on bed and sheets looked like they hadn't even been changed and our son was pulling the sofa bed down which had crackers and dead bugs in the crevices. We took our bags back downstairs and told the clerk "please take those room charges off our cc.....we are not staying here". Now, by this time, it's almost midnight and we just had to hope we weren't going from bad to worse.....we went to one of the other hotels (sorry don't remember which) in that area........and it was not too much better.......didn't see any bugs, but, the room had definitely seen better days....if it weren't so late at night and if we hadn't been driving for 13 or 14 hours....we probably would have just got in the car and continued to Disney.....so, again please check lots and lots of reviews before deciding to stay somewhere.

I know people sometimes ask about hotels along I95. For years we stopped and spent the night at a Hampton Inn near Richmond Hills, GA (exit 87). Our last stay there (last year) was not that great, so we looked for a new location.

We found one! We stopped at exit 94 in Georgia at a different Hampton Inn which was newer, the staff was friendly and the room was comfortable. We ate dinner at an Applebee's across the parking lot from the hotel - very convenient location because we did not have to drive to find a place to eat. There are several chain hotels in that same area.
