Sad story of family on way to Dland

I found this as I am finishing up packing for our trip... lots of us are on our way this week, wishing everyone safe travels.

Very sad story.
We usually fly to DL but this year we are driving.
I am so petrified of driving in the LA traffic that my husband drives and once we cross the California border, I have to take a Zyrtec (puts me to sleep) and lay down in the farthest back seat of our van. I am so scared that I make myself physically ill. California drivers are crazy.
I wish I could overcome my fears but have never been able to. Every time we do the drive I tell myself I will never do it again.

The story is in today's SD Union-Tribune. A family of 5 was traveling to 805 when it was struck by another vehicle. The car dangled from atop the freeway overpass. The rescue teams did a wonderful job. Sadly, one lady died.

I travel this route all the time when I go to Disneyland from my home. And in the same vehicle, a Toyota Rav4.

In any event, how very sad.

Have you ever driven in Nevada? Or perhaps NY?
CA drivers aren't that crazy, it's just a very different way of driving. It takes some getting used to.
On the other hand, with a fear that severe maybe you should mention it to your dr?

I think California drivers are a little crazier, but I might be a little bias.
This is such a sad story though, that poor family. They'll be in my thoughts.

It's so sad that the family will probably never look at Disneyland the same ever again . I hope they caught the person who caused the accident and I wonder how the court ruling will play out: if it will be the person who made the illegal lane change's fault or the person who swerved to avoid that car.

AMEN! Nevada has the worst drivers I swear! I'm always happy once we get back in to California when were driving.

That is a terribly sad story though. We'll be leaving Saturday, and I know many of us are traveling this week. Be safe everyone!

I much prefer California drivers to the ones I deal with every day here in Denver. I work home health so I'm on the road all day. I did home health in California before I moved here and I MUCH prefer CA drivers.

When my parents moved to CA from NY they were very impressed with how much more polite the drivers here were ( it was the 60s). I blame all the people that moved here
I like to think I'm a polite CA driver - I let people merge and pull out of driveways all the time in hopes that they will return the favor.
Sad to read that story though. I hate anyone to have sad memories associated with DL.
