Sad News - Disney employee dies in accident

It's unfortunate. Condolences to the family. It's as likely that the cast member had a medical emergency that just happened to be at the construction location. Heart Attacks and the like are just as likely as a construction accident.

Is it strange they call it an "industrial" accident yet say it wasn't related to construction?
On the video, it appears a golf cart is wrecked, some overturned trash bins, etc. Also, they say a "cast member," not a construction worker/contractor. Job related and involving a golf cart, assume it is appropriately classified as an industrial accident.

The Orange County Sheriff is where "industrial accident" is coming from and a WESH reporter (the same one I linked to above) says it happened in an "industrial area". "Industrial" doesn't necessarily mean "construction" but since this was close to Skyliner construction then it's certainly not off the table (Disney's recent statement notwithstanding).

I would think because it happened at work, that's why its called industrial. It might not have anything to do with construction, could be anything really.

An industrial accident would be at the workplace while performing the work duties. One can have an accident at work whilst not performing work activities and that doesn’t meet the standard. (I am an occupational nurse). It’s tragic for the employee and his or her loved ones and a serious thing for the Disney company.

Regardless, a terrible thing for that man and his family[/QUOTE]

No

All the video, photos and info shows it happened at the backstage operations between POP Century and CBR in an area that backs up to the Waldorf Golf Course. They also said it was a CM ... CMs are not building the gondola.

in the video of the twitter link it looks like there was a fire on top of a nearby fuel tank.
