Sad News, but Disney once again proved to be awesome

I am so very sorry for your loss. I knwo the days ahead will be tough. I am pleased to hear that DVC and WDW went "above and beyond" to help you through the awful logistics. This helps to restore my faith in humanity and corporate America. Your family is in my thoughts.

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. There is never a good time for anything like that to happen, however it makes me feel good to know that Disney stepped up and showed that type of compassion in your time of need. It's one of the reasons we bought into DVC in the first place in 1997, take our regular vacation at WDW, and only reconfirms my faith in confidence as Disney being nothing short of a world class organization.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Disney excels far beyond any other company I know of in the area of human compassion. We experienced a similar incident years back when I was young and we were camping in Ft Wilderness. It was personal service all the way from delivery of the message to our door to booking an urgent flight home for my mom and little sister to helping my father (who was sick with the flu) deal with 2 kids who wanted to see the magic kingdom just once before leaving. It's good to know that nothing has been lost in one company despite difficult financial years and tons of cutbacks.

There is a reason we choose to vacation at Disney and your story is right at the heart of it.

Again, I'm so sorry for your family's loss.. sending good thoughts to help you through this difficult time.

I'm so sorry for your loss. You have my sympathies. The same thing happened to me a few years ago, and I cannot say enough about the BCV Staff. They were so kind. My points were put back into my account as well.
Take care of yourself.

Thank you all for your kind words. The outpouring of love from this community has helped our family get through the last few days. Dad was a US Navy man, a WWII veteran and a kamikaze survivor. We brought him to the Doorway to Dreams pre-opening event in NY. He was in a wheelchair and he was wearing his Navy hat, and I remember how Goofy and Minnie silently honored him in a very special way. This was six months ago, and he often spoke about that event, even as his health declined. The Navy sent an honor guard to his funeral where they played taps and presented us with the US flag. It was very emotional, but made me very proud of him, and the sacrafice that he and his fellow sailors, and the military in general have made for our freedom.

As far as healing goes, Thanksgiving was always a time for our families to get together, no matter what was going on in our lives this time. He, being the "patriarch" of the family, was always at the center of this gathering. To help ease the pain this year, we are looking to break some of our family traditions and are hoping to book a Grand Villa in WDW for Thanksgiving weekend. There is no better place on earth for families to have fun than Disney World.

Thanks again to all. As a prior poster said, the DVC community is a very special family.

:grouphug: Wow, thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes.
