Thank you all for your kind words. The outpouring of love from this community has helped our family get through the last few days. Dad was a US Navy man, a WWII veteran and a kamikaze survivor. We brought him to the Doorway to Dreams pre-opening event in NY. He was in a wheelchair and he was wearing his Navy hat, and I remember how Goofy and Minnie silently honored him in a very special way. This was six months ago, and he often spoke about that event, even as his health declined. The Navy sent an honor guard to his funeral where they played taps and presented us with the US flag. It was very emotional, but made me very proud of him, and the sacrafice that he and his fellow sailors, and the military in general have made for our freedom.
As far as healing goes, Thanksgiving was always a time for our families to get together, no matter what was going on in our lives this time. He, being the "patriarch" of the family, was always at the center of this gathering. To help ease the pain this year, we are looking to break some of our family traditions and are hoping to book a Grand Villa in WDW for Thanksgiving weekend. There is no better place on earth for families to have fun than Disney World.
Thanks again to all. As a prior poster said, the DVC community is a very special family.
