Sad and sick story re: ice cream truck driver

Heard about this from a friend of mine . It seems as though an ice cream truck driver near Phoenix raped and impregnated a 9 yr old girl! Here is a link to the story.

My heart breaks for this child! But I can't help but think "why the heck did the mom allow her to go with him?"

What bothers me about this is the lack of supervision. Where were the parents? Was she free to roam? She got pregnant at 9? OMG!!! As a parent of a 9 y.o. girl, I would surely be keeping an eye on my kid. I wonder what will happen with the pregnancy? Please don't flame me, but I am not for or against abortion, but I definately know I would not let my 9 y.o. go thru a pregnancy or childbirth.

Oh my Gosh! That is just horrible!

I tell my kids not to talk to strangers. There is a very strange man who walks by our house every evening. I caught DD3 talking to him one day and I blasted her. There is a fine line between wanting to keep your kids safe and not wanting to make someone feel bad. I guess we need to err on the side of protecting our kids.

Our local paper reported that the mother GAVE HER PERMISSION to ride along in the truck with the ice cream man!!!

It went on to say this wasn't a one time thing. It happened repeatedly and he told her he would kill her siblings if she told.

Oh my gosh! I am saddened, outraged, angered.................. How can this man do something like this to a child?? What was the mother thinking?!! I would be so concerned if a man, especially of that age, wanted to spend extended periods of time with my underage daughter...I wouldn't care if she was 16 or 9! He deserves to have something horrible, something painfully horrible..........happen to him!!

Why would a parent give a 9 yr. old child, or any other age, permission to hang out with a stranger? And the girl's friend gave her the pregnancy test? Something is wrong with this "picture"...

I saw this last night on the internet and I was just appalled. First at the guy and then at the mother. I have no idea how this little girl is going to deal with this situation. How horrible!
