So our vacation is getting closer and I was really excited until I read about all the rules associated with SAB. Figured I should confirm before getting totally bummed and dwitching to BWI.

Is it true that I have to bring the kids room keys as well as my own to get bracelets? We will have four of our five with us. We usually bring a single adult room key to the pool with us as we tend to lose things easily.

Is it true they have to wear bracelets all day? I love relaxing in the sun and the kids fiddle with anything on their wrists, neck or ankles.

Juggling 5 room keys, bracelets, irritated kids asking us to take them off and weird tan lines on my wrist. Am I better off at BWI?

It depends on what time you are going. Honestly, I don't see how carrying 4 extra room keys is a big deal. We bring a beach bag with a pocket inside and all keys go in the pocket.

They do check that you have bracelets on as well so, yes, you do need to leave it on.

Yes, you need to wear them when you are in the pool area ... they are not meant to come off. I suppose if you leave the pool area you could take them off and get another set if you return. :confused3

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to switch to BWI. Carrying an extra 5 keys is an inconvenience to us. The kids are in and out of the beach bags and stroller so we prefer leaving most important stuff in the safe.
My kids will ask us to take the bracelets off constantly. It's not worth the aggravation it will cause us to stay at BCV and I know I will spend the whole time thinking I should have switched.

The key for a successful vacation for our gang is plenty or sleep, patience and preparation. Thak goodness for the disboards!

When we stayed at BWV we had to show our room keys as well, as we were going during a busy time and the pool was packed so they wanted to make sure only those staying there (and DVC owners) were using the pool. Technically, any pool has the right to check for they keys. As far as I am aware, SAB is the only one that has the bracelets though.

It's looking like it may be a long shot now, but you may not have keys when you go. Maybe you'll get MagicBands...so they'll already have wristbands on. I wonder if they are planning to put the RFID readers at the entrances to SAB. Perhaps the BC/YC experts have more info on that. My opinion though....that seems like a silly reason to switch resorts. The kids will absolutely love SAB.

I think we've had to show our room keys at BW as well. Not every time...occasionally. I agree that SAB is a much better pool than BW's pool, although SAB's site lines to watch kids are impossible. You need to follow your kids around if they are young. SAB does have the awesome sandy-bottom baby/toddler area for little ones to play in though.

Thanks that's good to know. I definitely don't want to chase them around (lol...it's my vacation too! ) but I do need to have my eyes on them by the pool. Going to switch and try BC when they are older.

My kids just cant take the feeling of things on the wrists. Otherwise the are pretty awesome kids. They've never been to SAB so they won't miss it and we could always do a day at the waterparks.

Watching them in the BW pool would be much easier. It's just a straightforward pool. Some people say they don't like the clown-face slide, but we always liked it. SAB meanders, has a lazy river, a whirlpool-type deep part...it's really fun, but not so restful for parents of young kids.

I don't mind showing my key. They did that at AK a few years ago. The whole bracelets, kids keys etc is too much for me.

I definitely need a restful trip...at least when we are sitting by the pools! Thanks so much for the info.

Btw- the clown face reminds me of the book IT by Stephen King. I'm a big fan of his so it's pretty cool to me but I can totally see why some would find it creepy!

My kids don't really like it either, but not to the point they would refuse to wear them and not go to SAB. They did take them off right away each night. You'll see tons of kids, though, that keep every day's wristbands on and accumulate them throughout the week. Kinda like the obnoxious skiing people who accumulate lift tickets on their jackets!

Just be aware you MAY have to show your kid's keys at BW too. It is supposed to be a room key to a guest, but they don't always ask. You just never know.

We had to show a room key for all members of our party at BW. Not just mine. As I said, we have only done that once and they were turning people away that did not have keys.

I agree with SAB when the kids are older. We went and walked around the resort and the pool was so expansive I would have to follow my DS5 around the whole time. I prefered BWV over BC with the smaller children. My kids are 5 years apart though so my DD10 doesn't want to hang in the kiddie area.

Have a great trip.

OP, it looks like you are going right around the first week of April which is right after Easter and during spring break crowds. As such, I would count on having to show at least one key (if not all keys) at BW. While it doesn't happen all the time, during super busy time periods they might (as others have reported).

When are you going? the BW pool is closed until April. If you're going before then, you'll be hiking over to SAB anyway (unless you want to use one of the quiet pools)..

We are going the 2nd week in April. Our Spring break is timed with Easter and Passover so we are pulling the kids out for a week. I was hoping most other states timed their spring break in a similar way...

I guess I'll just have to wait and see...

We've switched our reservation over but if the BW pool is closed then we will be switching again. When did vacation planning become so stressful?????

A bracelet lasts an entire day. When you're coming back from the park, stop by the pool and get bracelets from the guard. Then, go to your room, change, and leave your stuff. You don't have to bring your cards again that day.

Just be careful- I think you are safe but the Luna pool is closed right now for rehab and should be opening in March. I would just double check.
