Just wanted to get opinions on this new restaurant - we are somewhat "timid" diners - never really had indian food...is it very spicy? also - would something like tandoori chicken be a good choice to try without being too exotic?
no laughing at me now!!!

It isn't the spicyness so much in a "hey, that's far too spicy!" way, it's more the blend of flavors. It will seem exotic to you (tandoori chicken included) if you are not used to ethnic foods. For those who like Indian, it'll seem pretty tame, and not hugely authentic.

Having said that, they have some more mild, less spiced dishes. You might consider describing to your waitperson what you do/don't like. Except for the pre-cooked things (e.g., curry sauces that stew all day), they can often adjust the spice level. I'm sure you can find many things you would like.

We often go for lunch and share some appetizers and wine. It's a good way to test the flavors. Plus, at lunch, you almost always get a fantastic view of the animals!

Have a great trip!

We loved our meal here, try the bread sampler!

Its flavorful not hot... I dont like spicy but I loved the food here! Dh said his steak was better than Le Cellier, that is HUGE coming from Dh who insists we eat at Le Cellier each trip.

It's not exactly Indian...it's described as "African with Indian influences and flavors."

DW and I have eaten here twice and I agree the bread service is fantastic. I had the steak the last time we were there and it was very good. We are going back for a third time in Jan! :thumbsup2

I was there a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Definitely get the bread sampler. I had tandoori chicken and it was not too spicy or "weird." I would also recommend LUNCH for the pricing, if nothing else. If Simon is your server, politely ask for someone else. Our service there was very, very poor.

That stinks that you had poor service from Simon...we had him the first time we ate there in May '09 and he was great so we requested him for our trip this past Oct. :confused3
