??'s re: snorkeling at Castaway Cay

I live just outside of Chicago. E-mail me your addy and I will send you a bottle. If you want to hunt yourself, see if there are any SCUBA stores near you. Guaranteed to have no-fog.

This is exactly what I told DS who's 12 and he just went "EW! Mom!" It does work though. I don't have any no fog solution, but I'm sure I can get some online or at a major sports store. My problem is I'm dry-locked in Illinois and not much need for snorkeling and diving equipment here. I'm heading to St. Louis next week so I'll stop in at one of big sports stores to see if they have any.

Thanks again!

We have a few dive shops here in super land locked Colorado....but a good internet dive shop is www.leisurepro.com where you can find the mask defog....one brand is 500 psi, this may make your shopping easier!

Hey, guys, you can use baby shampoo for no-fog solution. Works just as well, and it's less expensive. (DS just finished a Diving Rangers class. We learned lots of fun substitutes, but this is the most useful.) We've been using it for several months, and it's a no-fail. (Dive instructor said it's basically the same thing.) Another tip -- if you already have your own mask, clean it off with toothpaste (make sure it's paste, not gel with crystals and all the stuff they put in toothpaste now). Makes it pretty fog resistant, too, but I prefer a few drops of baby shampoo (like Johnson's). Just wipe it around and dip your mask in the water.

I know most people would roll their eyes too but, believe it or not, I have a degree in marine biology and don't like the thought of fish touching me either!! I much prefer SCUBA to snorkeling because of it (fish don't tend to come as close with the bubbles)!! I still do it though (but I'm 35 and have adjusted to it over the years!)

Nearly everyone is bouyant .

Some more bouyant than others! I have always had problems with being too bouyant (which isn't a bad thing if you aren't comfortable in the water and like the idea of floating at the top). I dove at the Living Seas in Epcot and my partner and I both floated up to the top because we were too buoyant and needed more weights.

I haven't noticed any postings about how deep it is (sorry if I missed it). Anyone know?

thevolcanogod,

Thanks! I will look first before I PM you about a bottle of no-fog though.

JulieWent,

That is a great idea! I will give it try in the pool and see how it works.

twofoxes,

Thanks for the internet site.

TaraBelle1069,

I am a very bouyant person...in high school my girlfriends teased me by singing "Islands in the Stream" when I'd float on my back. Aren't friends great? ;)

And anyone, I, too would like to know how deep it is in the snorkeling area at CC....anyone know?

Thanks to everyone!

You mean way out where Mickey is?? Hmmm...I'd guess at 30 feet. Anyone know for sure?

I hear ya! My aunt said she hates snorkeling because her butt comes up to the surface!! When I dive, the person giving me my weights never believes how bouyant I am....twice I have had to get more weight mid-dive.

I'm hoping that losing weight is going to relieve some of my bouyancy issues. Crossing my fingers.
