Ever since my DD6 went with me to get my hair colored, she wants her hair 'painted' too. I finally convinced her that if she saved her money, she could have it 'painted' at WDW. My question is...how long does the color stay in? Does it get nasty & drippy from the heat/humidity/rain? I heard that it only costs $5 to get your hair colored. Do you know whether or not this is right?

Also, I am loving seeing the pics of all the kids with their faces painted. So, I have the same question about that....cost? how long does it last? does it smear & get yucky?

My nephew had his hair 'painted', it was pretty messy. We all had white matching shirts on (pic below) and we all had red 'paint' on us. I would say about an hour after his haircut, my brother took him into the bathroom and washed it out. Not sure about the face painting, but I did she kids walking around with it on and it looked okay, except for one little boy I saw who had his face painted like Darth Maul, it was smeared pretty bad, his mom said he didnt leave it alone.

Our DD 4 at the time had her haircut at the barber shop. They did not paint her full head. They cut and styled her hair, made a glitter Mickey head and sprinkled her with pixie dust. It was wonderful and it was not very messy.

I was so scared to get my daughters face painted. We have sensitive skin. She wore me down the night before we left we were on the boardwalk and I gave in. She got the princess with the crown. What a surprise. I know it was under 20. I do not remember how much. She slept in it and showed her dad when we got home. My husband laughed when she said she wanted to wear it to pre school tomarrow. She did and we let her not wash her face for 4 days. Her skin was beautiful thank goodness it was fine. Very good for sesitive skin worth the money spent sand next trip sahe gets it done sooner and more often.

My kids got thier faces painted in Animal Kingdom. I can't remember the exact price, but i'm thinking around $12 each. My dd kept hers on all day/night. My son didn't like the feel of it on his skin, so he proceeded to wipe it on his shirt He made a huge mess LOL

We got our DD's face painted at MGM (? I'm pretty sure) and there was a range of prices. She was a dog, for about $9. It was in January, so most of it stayed, but everything makes it smear, so her doggy tongue looked pretty funny after a few hours. The hair stuff is m-e-s-s-y especially before it completely dries. WDW made the mistake of plopping giant furry Jungle Book characters right outside the barbershop. My DD made a beeline and got blue all over one of them (the handlers were desperately wiping it off as we walked away). I bet they re-think that particular greeting spot! And it was torture washing it out that night, as my DD has a very sensitive scalp.

But would I do it again, if she begged me? Really begged me? Duh, of course!

Wow, I didn't even think of the hair "paint" smearing!!! A few years ago we went to Busch Gardens in Williamsburg and my DS(4 at the time) had his face painted like Spider Man - big mistake. Between the heat and his sweating, the face paint was making him so itchy that he couldn't leave his face alone. The whole paint job lasted for about two hours when we just gave up and took him to the bathroom to wash it all off...and boy, was that fun!!!! My kids still love to get their faces painted when we are on vacation...now we just let them get something small on one of their cheeks, as this seems to not bother them as much and tends to last most of the day.

My son got his hair cut and had red gel put in the front, as well as a mickey on the back. It took about 45 min to set fully, but we had no problems with it. When he took his nap in the stroller, a bit of the red went onto the fabric, but it came right out with a diaper wipe. Total cost for cut and "color" was 14.00, plus a tip

A few years back my princesses went to the barbershop for a haircut. They looked adorable and love the daylong attention they got. Youngest had a tuft of hair on the top and a Mickey on the side. Older had a Mickey on the back of her head. We let the girls go in the pool later that night to wash it out but quite frankly it took a lot more than that. My older DD is a redhead and I don't know if it was that or the fact that her stylist put so much paint in her hair. Her scalp was blue for weeks! But they had a ball that day. I think the best deal is to have them cut & style the hair --- it was $14. Can't beat that! We have never had a problem with the face paint. My youngest wants to get it done all the time and loves it there!

My dd5 got her face painted in Mk when we were there a couple of weeks ago and it looked phenominal! My father let her do it while DH and I were riding Goofy's Barnstormer and he wanted to surprise us. It cost $15 and was a gorgeous whimsical unicorn theme. She kept touching it, then we bought the mister fan and that killed it! She got it done at like 9:30 am and it was gone by like 1pm. O well, we got some great pictures!

Jennifer --- they do all types of things, unicorns, flowers, darth mall. . . you name it. The really neat thing is that they have all the selections on the sides of paint cans that are stacked near the face painting areas so you can pick exactly which one you want. They will absolutely do any paying customers . . . even us adult mouseketeers!

DD had her face painted twice during our last trip- once at MNSSHP, and once at Epcot.

She had the "Fairy" face (mostly just around the eyes and forehead, lots of glitter) pretty late at MNSSHP- that one lasted until we got back to the room. It was free, since it was MNSSHP- I think the normal cost would have been around $8.

At Epcot, DH was doing a Sam Adams beer seminar at the American pavilion, and DD saw a face painting booth. She got a full face Tiger paint while we waited for DH. It looked so neat! She got it in the mid afternoon, and it lasted until bedtime (the area right around her mouth wore off a bit when we ate dinner, but the chefs at Teppenyaki loved it!). I think it was around $12-$14. I keep trying to add her pic to my signature, but I can't get it small enough to fit.

My DS (4) had them paint a dragon on his face and he loved it so much. During MGM's parade several of the CM and characters made comments about it when they were walking by. He kept it on until bedtime that night. It was one of the full face paintings and it cost $15. I'm sure he'll be wanting another on our trip in October.

Yes, they can. My 24 y/o son had his head basically shaved and the barber used a lime green gel to put a Mickey with LOTS of metallic pixie dust on the back of his head. My son had asked him to cut a Mickey head into his hair, but the barber said he wasn't allowed to do that (even though an outside barber would be allowed to).
