I'm looking into booking my first ever Disney Cruise. My sil is in town and has told me that booking thru Orbitz is the way to go. She is a travel agent but I'm not so sure about this. I did go to Orbitz.com and they do have some pretty good deals on Disney Cruises. Have any of you booked thru them? Any bad experiences? This is all so new to me. So, thanks a lot for any help at all.

I can't offer too much info. All I can say is that we booked with www.allseastravel.com and have been happy with the serivce so far. (we booked 5 cabins). They had good prices and the TA we dealt with was knowledgable and helpful. (can't say much more than that as we are still 6 months out from our cruise).

Have fun planning!

The best advice I can give is to be sure to shop around. If you are flexible in the dates you can sail then use the DCL site to get an idea of what pricing is in different seasons and across different categories.

Once you have a guess as to which sailing you'd like to be on and what category stateroom then start getting quotes.

Make sure you understand each agencies cancellation policy and any factors that may affect the price such as if the quote includes taxes and port charges.

When we were shopping around I spoke with one agency that had a great rate but gave me some incorrect information regarding Disney cruises. It wasn't anything major but it was enough to convince me that I'd rather spend a few extra dollars to get an agent that is familiar with DCL.

Good luck and let us know how it all turns out!

I've booked all 4 directly thru DCL. www.disney.com I made payments online and called them with any questions. If you book thru a TA you can't check your status online and all docs go thru the TA. When or 11/30/02 Magic was cancelled (the night before we were to fly out) DCL called US directly. The couple that was traveling with us booked thru a TA and had to hear about the cancellation from us. DCL was trying to notify their TA but, it WAS the night before Thanksgiving and of course the TA wasn't working.............

We booked this cruise thru Dreams Unlimited and got our docs today!!!
Great service so far plus a $200 dreams rebate. Probably a gift in the room for dreams having 8 cabins booked on this cruise (but this seems to be up in the air?).
And you know Dreams staff know their Disney stuff since they run these boards.

I knew you all would have some good insight. Yep, I do like working with DU. Will give them a shot. Thanks.

all docs go thru the TA

This is entirely up to the agency. Dreams Unlimited does not do this for cruise clients. Knowing how everyone is always anxious to get that precious packet delivered, they are sent directly to you from DCL.

Just wanted to clear up this misconception. :D
