We have been pencilled in for the Villa Suite in the west wing by the elevators. (Room controller called and that is where he put us.) However, he mentioned that it is on the 5th floor and that the 5th floor was the smoking floor. How bad is the smoke level on that floor? He told us he would put us in the suite by the elevator so that smoke farther down the hall wouldn't bother us, but I forgot to ask if the actual suite was a smoking room too. I like the idea of the balconies in the west wing, but if it comes at the price of a heavy smoke smell, it wouldn't be worth it.

I would love to hear anybody else's experiences with the villa suite in the west wing by the elevators.

Thanks!!!!!!!

I'm glad to hear that they blocked that suite for you. I have stayed in both the villa suites on that floor and have never smelled even a hint of smoke. I wouldn't worry about it too much. They do an extra special job when preparing suites for incoming guests. But if there is a problem they will rectify it. I smelled smoke in a portofino suite during my last trip. I called the front desk and they gave me a massive hospitality suite. The suite they have blocked for you has a fantastic view of the bay and is super convenient to everything. The deluxe connecting room with two queens has a covered balcony that will shield you from any weather. The parlor has an extra large balcony and the other connecting king deluxe has a balcony as well. You can see what I'm talking about in any picture of the west wing. Just look for the right most room on the top floor which is the covered balcony and you have that one and the three to the left of it. Enjoy!

Could you post the room numbers for that here? Thanks

Goofy--the room controller actually called you? What can you tell me about that? As you know, we will be there as well (overlapping 1 night) and have put in a request with the front desk for a Villa Suite in the West Wing. Maybe I'll be getting a call?

Yes, I couldn't believe it. I had a note in my reservation that I would like to be close to the boats because my mother is travelling with us and she is not as spry as she once was. Well, for some reason, the note was not clear, so the room controller called me to verify. He was busy pencilling in all the different suites (he probably was pencilling in you too :sunny: ). Anyway, he told me that he had originally pencilled us in for the main building, but I asked him if the West wing ones were available (THANKS RyGuy!!!) and he said yes, but that he didn't put us in there because they were on the smoking floor and we had requested no-smoking. But since I wanted to be closer to the boats and didn't mind being on the smoking floor, he would gladly move us. He was really wonderful! Even made sure our travelling companions were in a balcony room right below us.

Perhaps you could call the PBH front desk and ask for the room controller and let him know that you wouldn't mind the smoking floor either. Then we can be neighbors :flower:

Thanks again RyGuy for telling us about the West Wing Villas.

okay, I'm trying to make sure I've got this right for future reference - you were able to secure a villa suite as a platinum upgrade from a deluxe room, is that correct?

Yes, that is how it worked for us. The Loews First lady told me that is how it worked, but I am skeptical. I think it is just like at Disney, where different CM's will tell you different things. But heck, I am not arguing.

Yes, HH, that is what I was able to get as a platinum upgrade.

Thanks for your reply, Goofy. Maybe we will be neighbors. Though, we requested non-smoking as well. Based on what RyGuy had to say about the cleaning of the suites, however, I don't think I would mind being in the smoking area.

thanks! see the thread i bumped up - this suite sounds amazing! my little brain is clicking - if i get credit for all my nights (discounted rate, so no guarantee) i've got a fall trip to nashville and i could stay at loews, then i'd be platinum, and then I could stay here! :rotfl:

FeeFeeWhite,

I have the room numbers posted for both west wing villa suites on the PBH room assignment thread.

goofy!,

Glad I could help. Enjoy your trip and feel free to ask if you have other questions.
