The cast:

Paul, 37 years young - a fully paid-up Disneyaholic
Helen, younger in years and looks - the most organised member of the family
Ryan, 5 months old - a Disney fan in the making

Headed off to MGM this morning to see if the crowds had abated a little, but they were just the same as a few days earlier. We’re not particularly surprised as Disney is in the middle of their official launch for Mission: Space, Mickey’s Philharmagic and the new Wishes firework show which we’re planning to see tonight. It’s just gone 10am and TOT has a wait time that runs into three figures, together with a Fastpass return time of late afternoon. We decide to ride Star Tours and then head back to potter around the BW.

Head off to the Magic Kingdom at around 3pm and decide to drive as the buses look to be packed. Arrived at the park in plenty of time for our 4.30pm PS at Crystal Palace so took a short trip on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority first and then headed off to meet Pooh and friends.

We hadn’t visited CP previously and were uncertain of what to expect, but were very pleased with both the character interaction and the food. We were seated for around 75 minutes I guess and met Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore a couple of times as they walked around the room. Tigger even held Ryan for us while another diner kindly took a photo.

For a buffet, the food was excellent – particularly the lamp chops, and crème brulee. Our server was very attentive, refreshing drinks regularly and introducing us the house speciality of an ‘Arnold Palmer’ – iced tea and lemonade.

After the meal we got FPs for Buzz Lightyear and took it in turns on Space Mountain until our time came around. We then headed off to Fantasyland to experience Philharmagic now it was officially open, emerging 10 minutes before the fireworks were due to start. With the new show we weren’t sure where to stand for a good view so decided to stay where we were and trust to luck. This turned out to be a good decision once the show started, with fireworks going off all around us, almost directly overhead in some cases. The area directly behind the castle is now closed off for safety reasons it seems, but you do get a very special view from around this area. I’ve always enjoyed Fantasy in the Sky but Wishes is definitely something magical, almost rivalling Reflections of Earth for sheer scale.

Nearly an hour to go before Spectromagic so we grabbed some drinks and found a comfy bench near Frontierland where we could watch the world go by. Spectromagic itself was as good as ever, and Ryan received lots of attention from the characters as they passed by. We grabbed the monorail back the car pack and pulled back into the BW at 11.15pm – another long day, but very enjoyable.

Day 10, Third time lucky?
