The cast:

Paul, 37 years young - a fully paid-up Disneyaholic
Helen, younger in years and looks - the most organised member of the family
Ryan, 5 months old - a Disney fan in the making

Up earlier today as we want to get to the Magic Kingdom before it gets too crowded. Just manage to squeeze onto the first MK bus that comes along and 10 minutes later we are there. The park is nowhere near as crowded as MGM yesterday and we are able to do most of the rides in Fantasyland without a problem. It’s a Small World seems to be emerging as Ryan’s favourite and I mentally prepare myself for the dozens of miles we will no doubt travel on this in years to come! Never mind, it’s easily worth it to see his little smile as the dolls wave at him.

Off to Peco Bills for lunch – cheeseburger and chicken salad. The fixings bar is great here, and the sautéed mushrooms and fried onions can easily double the size of your burger (or is that just me? :D). Helen takes Ryan off to the baby care centre for his lunch whilst I ride Splash Mountain. Should have really got a Fastpass on this before lunch, but the queue isn’t too bad and moves along fairly quickly. Everyone in our log seems to get pretty evenly wet, although as it’s so warm today this is definitely refreshing!

Meet up with Helen and Ryan and we pay a visit to the Enchanted Tiki Room. This is a bit hit with Ryan – especially the mirror ball hanging from the ceiling. Pirates of the Caribbean turns out to be our final ride for the day, as the lure of an ice-cream cookie sandwich and the pool back at the BW proves too much. We’ve timed the bus ride back to coincide with the afternoon parade, so we’re virtually the only passengers on board.

After our swim we decide to have a bite to eat and then watch the fireworks at Epcot so call Disney Dining to make a last-minute reservation at Spoodles. We relax for a while and then head out, but find the sky is starting to look a little dark and ominous. The first spots of rain begin to fall as we enter the restaurant, and during the meal we see more and more people arrive carrying umbrellas and ponchos. The food is great – gourmet tomatoes and grilled salmon for me and fettuccine for Helen, but the service falls some way short of ideal, with lengthy pauses between courses and a 20 minute wait for coffee – we don’t let it spoil the meal however, and simply adjust the tip accordingly.

Rain is still bucketing down as we leave the restaurant and we decide that the fireworks can wait for a dry night instead. Make a quick dash back to the elevators and opt for a relaxing night in, listening to Reflections of Earth in the distance.
