The cast:
Paul, 37 years young - a fully paid-up Disneyaholic
Helen, younger in years and looks - the most organised member of the family
Ryan, 5 months old - a Disney fan in the making
Another relatively quiet day is planned, with a few hours to be spent at Animal Kingdom followed by an evening meal at the Magic Kingdom. We drive to AK and head over to the Legend of the Lion King which is as amazing as ever. The fire eater / sword spinning guy is truly outstanding but the whole cast as always give 100% and produce a brilliant show. As we head out it starts to rain and we make for cover under a nearby tree until it starts to let up. We have about 30 minutes until the afternoon parade so pick a spot and I go off to the Flame Tree BBQ to get some cheese fries for us to share. Lots more attention for Ryan from various cast members and characters, with Pluto taking a particular interest.
We leave AK and drive over to MK. Were planning to eat and then watch the fireworks and parade but the weather continues to look a little unsettled. Alien Encounter is scheduled to close today for its conversion to a Stitch-themed attraction and Helen wanted to ride it one last time whilst I go walkies with Ryan. The queue time for Space Mountain is posted as 80 minutes with a Fastpass return time of 10.45pm. Think well give that a miss today.
Arrive at the Plaza restaurant for our PS and after about a 15 minute or so wait were seated inside. I order a chicken breast sandwich whilst Helen has a shredded beef and cheese sandwich. My cookies and cream milkshake is delicious, although Helens chocolate cake isnt the best shes ever had. We notice around this time that a crowd is gathering in the doorway and that the heavens have opened outside. We pay the check and the server very kindly says we can stay inside out of the rain as long as wed like, but we feel bad that people might be waiting for our table and decide to make a run for the baby care centre instead as Ryan needs feeding and changing.
The baby centre is absolutely heaving but there is some space inside and 20 minutes later we emerge to find the rain has stopped. However, it looks as though this might just be a temporary lull and we decide to head home. Unfortunately everyone else seems to make the same decision and the short monorail trip to the TTC takes ages. An hour or so later we arrive back at the BW and squelch through the lobby on the way to our room.
