We were thinking about renting a RV to drive to WDW. We want to stay at the WL. Does anyone know if you can park an RV at any of the resorts? We don't want to stay in the campground. This is just an idea, because we have a couple families with small children and thought this would make an easier drive. This way the would have a bathroom on board and could move around a little bit, instead of having to stop so frequently. ANy thoughts?

Have you looked at the gas mileage?

My dad's RV (which is probably bigger then a rental) gets 8 miles to the gallon! EIGHT! (And he drives it slowly LOL!) So if you have along trip the costs could be really high!

And I think they also charge for miles traveled.

Also there was a show on tv within the month showing motor homes and one of the sales people joked about how motorhomes are designed.

Six for cocktails, four for diner and two for sleeping comfortably.

My sister and BIL have a "McMansion" of an RV--40 some feet long with a shower, washer and dryer, you name it onboard--this thing is amazing!

At any rate, they stayed with us at the BW in February, and had no problem parking at the hotel. There seems to be a "special lot" at the BW, the only vehicles parked there were two RV's, a Ferrari, and a Corvette.

I've seen RV's parked at every WDW resort at one point in time or another.

An RV is great for travel and Fort Wilderness is great, too! Just keep in mind--small children will need to be buckled in a child restraint in the rv just like in any other motor vehicle. The child restraint will need to be in a forward-facing position such as at the dinette. There are only usually two such belted positions for small children.

Tennessee's new child restraint law goes into effect July 1 and it requires children ages 4-8 to be in a child seat or booster seat. Since an rv usually does not have a shouder seatbelt except in the front we had to purchase a Britax Husky (for $200 plus) for our 4-year old to ride safely in our RV when she outgrew her regular carseat.
