So, who else is rushing to get a handmade Christmas present done?
In looking for presents for my mom, I noticed many of the catalogs had these fleece wraps to use while reading or watching TV. Some are full-body wraps with holes to stick your arms through and others just go around your shoulders. I thought that would be a good gift for my mom since she likes to sit on the bed in my old room and watch TV or do her crossword puzzles.
So I got this brilliant idea to knit one instead of buying it. It would be less expensive and more personal. I bought about $10 worth of yarn. When finished, it will be about 60" long and 125 stitches wide - the right width to wrap around your shoulders. I'd also like to put fringe on the ends if I have time.
It seems like all I've been doing is knitting! Last night I worked on it for 4 hours! I wanted to take it with me on Thankgiving to work on after dinner but we went to my parents' house and I couldn't let my mom see it. I should probably be knitting right now but I'm sitting here instead. I work until 3:00 each day and then it's kid's homework, dinner, etc. So I have to fit in my knitting when I can. I'm sure I'll finish it on time but I'll have to use my time wisely.
Who else is working on a big project for a gift and what are you making?
