So today I am starting the couch to 5K program. I need advice on songs with good beats to run to. My current favorite is "Stays in Mexico" by Toby Keith. What songs are on your running playlist???

Not sure what kind of music you like, but on my running list is:
J Lo - On the Floor
Chris Brown- Forever
Lady Gaga- Born this Way
-The Edge of Glory
U2-Where the Streets Have No Name
-Beautiful Day
VanHalen- Dreams

It's kinda a weird mix, but I gotta have a few of my favorites from the 80s!

I have alot of Lady Gaga and Pitbull on mine. Anything that makes me want to dance will usually keep me running. I tend to run to the beat to so uptempo is helping with my time too.

Today is my "decide my fitness path for the next 3 months" day, and I'm pulling up all my old hints.

I used to have a dance channel and a bluegrass channel plugged into my XM radio just to get songs that would be good to jog to. I discovered Celtic Punk (which I still listen to) because almost all Celtic Punk is good for running. I could usually make it up the hill in front of our house in MA if I was listening to "Shipping up to Boston" by the Dropkick Murphy's no matter how tired I was.:)

My playlist, in no particular order:

Song - Artist
Barbara Streisand - Duck Sauce
Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas
Cat & Mouse - Nikki & Rich
Club Can't Handle me Now - Flo Rida
Come out and Play - The Offspring
Down with the Sickness - Disturbed
Everybody - Ingrid Michaelson
Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride - Jump5
Hey, Soul Sister - Train
I Got a Feeling - Black Eyed Peas
I'm shipping up to Boston - Dropkick Murphy's
Jessica - The Allman Brothers
Monster - Skillet
Naturally - Selena Gomez
Notice Me - Alexa Ray Joel
Say Hey - Michael Franti
Still waiting - Sum 41
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina & the Waves
We No Speak Americano - Yolanda Be Cool & DCup
Your Betrayal - Bullet for my Valentine
1,2,3 Turnaround - Christian TV

It's a very weird collection but it works! LOL

I have a mash up of current pop/hip hop stuff that you'll hear on the radio, embarrassing 90s songs, and some classic rock to throw into the mix. random yes...but it makes me happy

Hi Taryn! :cool2:

I have to agree with some others here that as long as the beat fits my running pace, I am good. But I tend to do for dance and pop. My current playlist (which is always expanding):

Battlefield - Jordan Sparks
Hey Baby (Drop it to the Floor) - Pitbull
E.T. - Katy Perry featuring Kanye West
Till the World Ends - Britney Spears
Back Seat - New Boyz
What Do You Want From Me - Cascada
Every Time We Touch (Dance Version) - Cascada
Born this Way - Lady Gaga
On the Floor - Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull
Just Can't Get Enough - Black Eyed Peas
Sugar - Flo Rida
Judas - Lady Gaga
More (Radio Edit) - Usher
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
Rolling in the Deep - Adele
Addicted to You - Shakira
Baby Got Back - Sir Mix-A-Lot
Trace Atlantic - Scooter
Where Them Girls At - David Guetta
Hit 'Em Up Style - Blu Cantrell

Trance - Master Blaster
One More Night (trance mix) - Cascada
Dangerous - Cascada
4 Minutes (To Save the World) - Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake
Shut Up and Drive - Rihanna
Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO
Give Me Everything - Pitbull

Wow, I didn't realize I had so many. Have my Droid on shuffle though and its great. Works well with my runkeeper app also.

- Carey

I am starting to get bored with my running playlist. Here is what I have:

I Gotta Feeling, Black Eyed Peas

The Time, Black Eyed Peas
Stronger, Kanye West
Only Girl, Rihanna
Rolling in the Deep, Adele
Blow, Kesha
Firework, Katy Perry
Like a G6, Far East Movement
On the Floor, Jennifer Lopez

I just posted about this on my blog. I have tried to turn on Pandora during my runs, but then I get alot of slower songs or songs I dont really like...not to mention the commericals.

My workout playlist (it's not really running, but it's about the same for me, lol) consists of:

Admit It!- Say Anything
Ain't No Other Man- Christina Aguilera
Always Where I Need To Be- The Kooks
Are You Gonna Be My Girl?- Jet
Baby Fratelli- The Fratellis
Back In Black- AC/DC
Candyman- Christina (again!)
Chelsea Dagger- Fratellis (again)
The Fame- Lady Gaga
Fat Bottomed Girls- Queen (I could not resist, I love this song!)
Have A Drink On Me- AC/DC
I Wanna Be Like You- Jungle Book Soundtrack
Money Honey- Lady Gaga
Ocean Avenue-Yellowcard (this song is GREAT to run to!)
Rusty Halo- The Script

Woah Oh! (Me vs. Everyone)- Forever The Sickest Kids (really great to run to as well!!)
You Shook Me All Night Long- AC/DC

HTH!! I love some of the suggestions from others though, I love seeing new playlists!

Great thread! I love seeing what inspires other people. :thumbsup2

Baby I'm A Star, Prince
The Ballroom Blitz, Sweet

The Rockafeller Skank, Fatboy Slim

My running list is about 100 songs deep, so its a bit long to post in its entirety :)

My current 'kick it up' or 'gotta get through this' song is 'The 59 Sound' by Gaslight Anthem.

Some artists featured on mine:
Rise Against
Offspring
Lady GaGa
Jimmy Eat World
Yellowcard
Flogging Molly
Dropkick Murphys
Jay-Z
Alkaline Trio
Amber Pacific
B.O.B.
Eminem
Pink
Fallout Boy
Ke$ha
Lucky Boys Confusion

I'd personally rather have stuff a bit fast, rather than undertempo....I'd rather force myself to slow down rather than try and run faster than the beat.

My playlist is crazy ecelctic, but since you listen to country (and we seem to be the minority), I will give you a few country songs that are good to run to:

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy (extended dance mix) - Big N Rich
Sideways - Dirks Bently
Stuck Like Glue - Sugarland
Gunpowder and Lead - Miranda Lambert
If Your Goin' Play in Texas - Alabama
Chattahoochie - Alan Jackson
Third Rock from the Sun - sorry, can't remember the artist

I have a mix of latin, hip hop, grunge, pop, etc.... but my main base is dance stuff. The best for this is Pitbull. I think I have every song he's ever done and they are all the perfect beat (plus, I get to dance to them in zumba classes).

Anything fast-beat Britney Spears (Circus album). Shh, don't tell any of my friends that I said that. I'm a closet Britney fan. Of the music, definitely not the persona.

For me, I really rely on my music to keep my pace, encourage me, etc... so I have luckily found a good couch to 5k program that supports that. RunningIntoShape.com. I do her original c25k podcasts. I enjoy the no-thinking required audio cues.

The ones I really think are great/timely are:
Poison – BBD
Just Fine – Mary J Blige (good cool down song)
Gonna Make You Sweat – CC Music Factory
Gimme More – Britney Spears
Push It – Salt & Peppa
Whip It – Devo
Gimme – Jill Scott
Bootylicious – Destiny’s Child
American boy – Estelle ft Kanye (Good warm up)
Stonger – Kanye West
Hot in Herre – Nelly (when I run outside and need a break at a slower pace)
Hey ya – Outkast

If you go to the site, you can look at her play lists (where you download the c25k podcasts) She links to all the songs on Itunes.

I am always looking for new songs to add to my running mix, but thought I would add the ones that are on my iPod right now that haven't been mentioned.... embarrassing or not ;)

Apache by Sugarhill Gang
In the Ayer by Flo Rida
Wake Up by Mac Miller
Please Don't Stop the Music by Rhianna
I know you Want me by Pitbull
Temperature by Applause Riddim
Paper Planes by MIA
Party Up in Here by DMX
Liar Liar by the Used
Numb Encore by Linkin Park and JayZ
Paralyzed by the Used
Paralyzed by Finger Eleven
White Lines by Grand Master Flash
