Hey just found your PTR...

Jumped on because running a half marathon is something I aspire to...

I've heard good things about couch potato to 5 k so I'm going to have download it...since I'm at the ahem...beginning stages shall we say...:blush:

I know Disney has the marathon, the half, a family 5k... do you know if they have any 10Ks?

The 10 miler seems to be the only 'in-between' distance Disney do. Works out to be just over 16km. I'm aiming for that one first.

I've just started the couch to 5k and am actually enjoying it! This is big for me because I hate running and am very unfit, and I've also had problems with my legs in the past. I won't go into too much detail here, but there's plenty of ramblings about it in my PPTR if you're interested.

Sorry I haven't posted lately but it seems I have a hairline fracture on my foot. Don't ask how I did it cause I don't know but the swelling and bruising is not fun and let me tell you it seems to blow up like a balloon at night.

It's not too painful unless I put a lot of pressure on it.

What does that mean for the marathon.... I'm still doing it of course. Right now I haven't been training much but I am hoping to do 5k this Sunday although I won't be doing it fast. Plus I don't want to push too much since I have to do a lot of walking at Disney in 2 weeks

So thanks for sticking around and I will let you know on Sunday how it went

Don't overdo it - you can always do something no-impact until your foot is better, like cycling or swimming. You could even do your walking in the pool instead! It won't get your body used to running, but you can at least keep improving your general fitness until you're ready for more high impact again.

Hey everyone, since I have decided not to walk this weekend to give my foot a chance to heal I thought I would do an update to let you know what I will be doing on my upcoming trip since I haven’t really talked about that.


We are flying out of Buffalo on Sept 29th at 10:05am on Jet Blue. We have never flown with them before and the kids are pretty excited about having the TV’s. We had TV’s once on a flight out of Canada.


We arrive in Orlando at 12:45 and will make our way to the Magical Express.
We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside in the Alligator Bayou section. Why not a Royal Room? Well my kids don’t share very well and we decided this year we all want a bed and since Em is so small she will fit perfectly on the new Murphy bed in the refurbished rooms so that is where we are staying.


I am going to send in a room request for 1st floor building 38. I figure that it’s close to a crossing to get to Old Man Island and really close to the Mansion buildings where Katie and Glen are staying!


After we check in we are going to head to DTD to check out the new Phineas and Ferb reality thing they have there, then dinner at WPE (1st time!) and then back to the hotel to unpack and relax by the pool.


Sept 30 – the kids are obsessed with EE and Kali River Rapids but that’s all they really like at AK so this morning we are gonna head to AK and hit Rainforest Café for breakfast (1st time), then EE, KRR and the Lion King Show. Then it’s back to the hotel to relax at the pool and maybe take a nap. Whenever we feel refreshed we will head to MK. We have hoppers so it doesn’t matter what time we get there but we must be there by 5pm for our ADR at Tony’s (1st time). I have heard bad things about Tony’s, but Emma is a huge Lady and the Tramp fan so we have to eat here at least once.


After Dinner is MNSSHP time. Em is Jasmine, Eryka is Pocahontas (her friend Ethan is John Smith) and I am going as Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas!


The MNSSHP plan is Villain show, parade, fireworks, Aladdin characters, duffy, pooh, the ducks and the mice. I am trying to only do characters that are in costume or that match our costumes. We are also going to do the ghost shots at HM. If there is any time left we will hit a ride or 2. I am planning on having to be kicked out of the park… shopping on the way out!


Oct 1st – This is a MK day. I want to head there nice and early so we can go see Merida an then over to Pixie Hollow to meet Periwinkle. The new Dumbo will be at the top of the list for this morning as well. We will grab a bite at the Bakery (1st time, Cinnamon bun here I come) and hit whatever rides the kids want to hit. Around lunch we will head back to POR for a swim and a nap since it will be EMH tonight we will need our rest.


After a rest we will head back to MK and meet up with Katie, Glen and Ethan to ride some rides (or at least so Eryka can ride with someone) and then we are off to the Dessert Party! We did this in 2009 and it was fantastic so we are doing it again.


After the dessert party we will ride whatever the kids want to ride till we are too tired or they kick us out, whatever comes first, then back to POR to bed.


Oct 2nd – This morning Katie will be joining us for breakfast at Cape May Café (1st time) while her boys are off doing boy things J After CMC I believe Katie will be meting up with her men and the girls and I will head to DHS where we are hoping we can still get a TSM fp and if not we will brave the Standby line (scary right). Eryka will want to hit ToT and RNRC which she will be riding alone since Em won’t go near them. I wanna see Indiana Jones and the Back lot tour and Emma will want to see the Little Mermaid. If it is 5pm we will head out and if not maybe we will hit a couple other rides.


At 5 we are heading to the Boardwalk to rent Surrey bikes for a ride (I promised Emma last year we would do it this year) and we will check out some of the entertainment on the Boardwalk. At 7 we will make our way to the Yacht Club to meet Katie, Glen and Ethan for dinner at Yachtsman (1st time)


After dinner it will be back to POR and either swim or bed depending how we feel


Oct 3rd – This is Epcot day. My kids aren’t too fond of this park so we will head there in the morning and hit Soarin, Nemo, Test Track, and head over to get Emma’s Duffy a new outfit then we will go back to POR to relax.


The plan for the evening is to head back to MK to see Wishes again and hit some rides


Oct 4th – We are getting up early this morning to hit EMH at MK and get as much done as we can in that 1st hour. Then we are off to my favourite breakfast at Ohana!!! If we are tired we will go back and rest and if not we will go back to MK. MK closes early for a party so we will be leaving around 6:30 to head to WL for our WCC dinner (Eryka’s request)


After dinner it’s back to POR and to bed


Oct 5th – This morning is EMH at AK so we will hit EE, KRR and the Safari. We should easily finish that in an hour and then it will still only be 9am.


Maybe then we will scoot over to DHS for another spin on TSM and whatever else the girls feel like doing then back to relax and swim (wow we have a lot of pool time scheduled)


At 4:30 we will head to Epcot to meet up with Katie, Glen and Ethan for Dinner at Chefs de France (1st time)


After dinner we will catch Illuminations then head back to the hotel


Oct 6th – last full day – I always end on MK but 1st we will head to DHS for a last TSM spin and one more time on whatever each of the girls pick. Then off to MK to do all our favourites one more time (that could be the whole park)


Since it’s our last night I wanted to end on something special so we are having dinner this night at Narcoossee’s (1st time). Eryka has become a huge seafood fan so I’m sure she will love it here. Then very tired and full we will head back to our bed and our last night at POR.


Oct 7th – We will get up have breakfast, pack and check our bags, then hang out at the resort till The Magical Depression bus comes to get us
We have a lot of great and new stuff packed into 8 nights/9 days and I can’t wait!!!
 
Your plans sound awesome! So much fun to do a trip with others, isn't it? I think it just totally adds to the excitement of planning. And Katie and Glen are awesome so they will be great companions. :)

Only 4 days till I'm off to WDW and I am having dreams about Port Orleans Riverside. I think it's my body's way of telling me that I need to relax on my vacation. I am sure i will manage to find some relaxing time!!!
