Do any of you ladies out there have experience with Shock Absorber bras? How is the fit, bounce control, etc. . . I am specifically looking at the Shock Absorber Run Sports Bra - looks good on paper and in the reviews I can find.

I am on a quest for a great running bra which I know is not the same for all. I've got an issue that I have a small band/large cup size which is not available in all manufacturers and styles. The sm/med/lg options just don't cut it. I've had trouble with fit, bounce control and especially chafing. I recently got a CW-X Xtra Support Bra II which is about the best I've tried so far.

Thanks for any advice,

Have you fried any Moving Comfort bras? The Fiona bra is supposed to be great for more well-endowed women, and the bra runs in normal bra sizes. I unfortunately have the opposite problem :lmao:

But I agree the small/medium/large bras are awful. Even if you don't have much up there...they are just uncomfortable and seem to mash you in.

I have not tried the Shock Absorbers, but live in the Moving Comfort Fionas. I am a 30 G, so share your issues. ;) I own an old sewing machine, so I buy a 36DDD in the Fiona, and then, take the band in in 3 spots to make it small enough around. I am able to run marathons, do zumba, or whatever I need with no problems at all. I did have one VERY sweaty 22 mile training run that gave me blisters on the bottom of my chest, but I must have done something different that time, because it's never happened any other time. Not even during Goofy!

Yes, I bought one a couple of years ago - don't remember the style. It was okay. But I lost weight and it doesn't fit any more. Plus, I pretty much wore it out. I got a professional fitting and bought a Freya last year, but on long runs it chafes me raw. And I wasn't terribly impressed with it's bounce control.

I also wear moving comfort bras, but the Juno style. I have always felt self conscious about bouncing and I definitely like the bounce control with the moving comfort bras. The only downside of the Juno style is it can be difficult to get on. It has the standard sports bra, racer back design with an adjustable band and I find it can be difficult to hook the clasps on the band.

Thanks. I think my local running store carries Moving Comfort. I'll go check them out.

I'm actually a big fan of Under Armour's Stability bras. I've only had chafing issues once and that was ages ago.

Good luck on your search!

Check out the Lynx bras too. She makes them especially for this problem. I finally caved and bought one and wore it to my 5k this weekend and it's the first time I didn't bounce at ALL.

I might need another.

In addition to what is mentioned here, you might look into the enell bra. It is a front hook bra. I have only one that I've used. Definite zero bounce and therefore no pain. I find I rotate through several styles and have not really found my all time favorite.

Good luck with your search.

Don't know if any of you other ladies have had this opportunity, but one of my local running stores hosted a Ladies Night with Moving Comfort. The experts from Moving Comfort came in and did fittings. It was AWESOME! :cheer2:

They were very serious about helping you find just the right bra for YOU - asked lots of questions about what I was looking for, what issues I have with other running bras I had worn, how I felt about "bounce", etc. They also took to the opportunity to work with the store's female staff members to train them on fitting customers. They even created a card file for each of us noting all our fit info, so when we go back they know what we have if we want to get the same thing again or know what we have already tried it we want to tweak our selections.

My store did a great job with the evening event - they had wine and cheeses, everybody got "raffle" tickets when they came in for prize drawings every hour, etc. I won a gift certificate for any pair of Nikes I wanted - up to $135 :cool1:

I would highly recommend asking your store if they would be willing to host something like....and no, I don't work for Moving Comfort :rotfl: I actually work for a major insurance company.

Good Luck in your search!
Kathy
