I always try to make every trip to disney something special. So this year we were going to stay at WL with a Woodsview. But I am running short of cash. Will I be satisfied with a Standard view:confused:

We requested a standard view room and ended up with a woods view on the first floor around the corner from Roaring Forks. I don't spend too much time looking out the windows so I usually get the cheapest there is.

When we stayed at the WL in 2001 we paid for a woodsview room and I was very disappointed with the view (we were put on the sixth floor where all we saw were tops of trees). This summer I'm saving about 35 dollars a night by booking a standard room and at least I'll get to see the lobby alot more than our last trip.

We stayed at WL with a courtyard view and I loved it. It's a matter of personal preference, but if I couldn't have a courtyard view, I'd just as soon take a standard view. Looking out at a bunch of trees just doesn't interest me...I see that every day out my own windows.

As I understand it there are some standard views that overlook the lobby. Our room did and we liked that as well as we did the view of the pool and lake! You might want to request a room overlooking the lobby, it'll help make up for whatever the view off your balcony is!

We always opt for a standard room at POR, WL and AKL and have never regretted it. AFterall, we never even look out of the window. While at the AKL, we were upgraded to the pool view. It was nice, but I would've been just as happy with a standard. Too much in the world to see, other than the view from my room window. JMHO--I would rather use the extra money for a couple of great meals or even a backstage tour!

It depends. View opinions are pretty subjective. I'd be happy at WL in a room that didn't even have windows, but then I spend hardly any time looking at whatever's outside the room. I think WDW rooms are for changing clothes and sleeping. If I book a resort like WL, it's for hanging in the lobby and restaurants and pool, not in the room. If I have a view I'll take pictures of it, and I've watched Illuminations from BCV balconies, but that's about it. Didn't even spend much time on the balcony in the AKL savannah view. I preferred one of those round outlook areas with the big rocking chairs that are just off the lobby.

If, on the other hand, you are my diametrical opposite and the room view is going to make or break your stay, get the view you want. If money is really an object, you have to decide if the resort itself or the room view means more to you. It's possible you'd get upgraded but I wouldn't count on it.

I was at WL last June and booked a woodsview. It really wasn't a great view. We overlooked the villas. Pretty much all we saw was a roof with trees poking out behind it. We still had a great time and while I was dissappointed at first, it really didn't bother me. The next time I went, though, I didn't feel it was worth the extra money to book a woodsview.

We've done mods and deluxe. Always book standard, I don't think any view is worth the extra money. As others have said, we don't spend much time looking out the window. I would rather spend the extra cash on some nice meals or souveneirs.

In my opinion, the trip is more important than the view!

We booked Woods view as the cost difference from Standard was not high - other reason being we wanted a quite peaceful view which we did get. North side near the Boat Launch - very quiet and pretty with a nice pond (drainage?) to the east from our balcony

Thanks
Jason

DW and I got a standard rm. in Oct/97. We didn't pay too much attention to the view, as we were enjoying everything WDW had to offer. Enjoy your trip!:Pinkbounc :bounce:
