I also read that Carol "Avenger" Danvers was a better pilot than Maverick, and is better at beach sports too! 😉

All she needs now is a Trench Run type sequence in her movie and we can debate who did it better, Luke Skywalker, Maverick, or her!

Not trying to be a turd, just trying to point out that there may not be good data to backup your thoughts about how great the high republic is doing.
The used book store I shop at, orders me all the Star Wars novels and I'm currently working my way through the High Republic series that have been released in DTF (I don't like/buy e-books). I've finished the first two HC books of the series and I'm working my way through book 3. I've enjoyed what I have read so far, there are some spots that I don't like, but that is true with most series.

As for the article, they are trying to compare a book series (High Republic) that has just came out in the last few years with a novel/series (Heir to the Empire) that was originally released in 1991. They also state in their article that their numbers were of the hardback copy of the books, along with the paperback numbers from of one of the books. They are basing their evidence on physical copy sales, when sales of physical copies of books have been in decline for years. Per Amazon the first book of the High Republic series is:

#1,730 in Audible Books
#22 in Movie,TV & Video Game Tie-in Fiction
#45 in TV, Movie & Game Tie-In Fiction
#66 in Space Opera Science Fiction

So I do think that they are selling better that that article lets on, since I think the Amazon ranking also count e-book sales. Will they sell in the same numbers of Heir to the Empire, I doubt it, but I don't think that you will see most books have their number of copies sold be in that range either.

I also feel that some of the backlash to the newer SW novels, was the decision to say that the prior EU novels were no longer cannon and some of the newer books have been terrible reads. Some of the EU novels were also bad, but the ratio of good to bad was better. My opinion is based on my 233 SW Novels that currently own.

I mean is there even a question about this? She is the strongest and most perfect character the MCU has ever seen, and a mere mortal has no chance against her. Especially not a male for sure, it would take a strong empowered female human with a PHD in gender studies to have any chance at beating CM at anything.

I still don't get why you say this. Carol got ANIHILLATED by Thanos, and it wasn't pretty! I know he's no "mere mortal" but you act like they will never show that Carol can do anything wrong - except that they have. Also, "power" isn't everything, but it is seemingly soemthing some fans value over all else. They want their favorites to be all-powerful and able to beat anybody. It's the equivalent of, "My dad can beat up your dad!" and it's silly.

Only one character can beat anybody, and his name is BATMAN.

Agreed, no book will ever top Heir to the Empire's numbers, it was a juggernaut and that series is the reason that a Star Wars renaissance happened in the 1990s. I don't think people realize how much of an event that was. There's a reason characters like Grand Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade (even though she's never been in any canon media) are still popular today.

Yes, it came at the perfect time to fill the void. People were hungry for any Star Wars content and it was some of the best that was done. I'm happy we're getting a live action Thrawn and I hope Zahn is happy with how the character is brought to life. I wish we could get a Mara Jade but I think that ship sailed with the passage of time and the fate of Luke.

Why does male or female matter when we're talking about beings getting powers from Infinity Stones? She's literally powered by the Space Stone.

Batman has been broken and busted all to pieces and left for dead in the bottom of a well before. In the comics and in the movies.

Yeah, I'm both mad Mara never made it to canon, but I also don't want them to ruin her. :D I loved Thrawn in Rebels but tbd about Ahsoka. At least Lars Mikkelson is still playing him.

While I do still think a lot of this debate is bait, I’ll play along for now and say that in my opinion, I think that a fully powered Thor or even Star Lord when he was still part Celestial could have easily given Carol a run for her money in the MCU since Ego was a planet and Thor is one of the strongest Avengers too (It’ll always be Wanda in my eyes). As pp said, Carol’s powers in the MCU come from an Infinity Stone, same as Wanda’s, and Wanda took out the Illuminati and their version of Captain Marvel without even breaking a sweat in MoM but everyone was cheering at that and saying what a badass she was for it. It was Rogue in the comics when she was still a villain that nerfed Carol and took her powers and that’s why Rogue can fly and has superhuman strength so that could still easily happen in the MCU once the X-Men are reintroduced.

For some folks, when a man does it it's a power fantasy, but when it's a woman then it's somehow bad writing and made to attack men specifically. It's a ridiculous and misogynist POV.

I say CM is unquestionably the strongest character in all of the MCU, because that is exactly what Kenin Feige said. He ultimately controls who the strongest is on screen.

I don't know why the debate about "strongest Avenger" or "who could defeat Thanos" even matters. It already happened. Thor decapitated the original Thanos. Steve fought 2012 Thanos one-on-one and held off his army until the other Avengers assembled (see what I did there). And Tony retook the infinity stones and did the snap, killing that version of Thanos for good. Tony also figured out the time travel, so he's really the one who made the entire thing possible.

AND he always comes back to beat the bad guy! Actually, all sueprheroes do - it's a foregone conclusion - but Batman does it best!
