rumored aveng-o-rail or hero-rail will be soon patrolling the mk loop

Doing these monorail overlays seem like such a huge waste of funds. Those of us in the monorail cannot see what is on the outside and I doubt people are that wowed over by what is on the outside. For the tens of thousands of dollars, or millions, they spend doing this, they could save it and quit increasing the cost of water/soda, offer their employees better benefits, pay their employees a bit more or even keep DVC annual dues down a little. I get that it is about marketing and advertizing, but it seems like such a waste of funds. Does anybody really care if this overlay is on the monorail as long as the monorail gets you from point A to point B safely?

At least the tronorail was snazzy-looking. This is just ugh.

I wish they would leave the monorail alone.

:thumbsup2 Doesn't make me like the monorail any better and doesn't make me want to watch the movie. Waste of money IMO.

It doesn't make me want to watch the movie but I enjoyed the Tron monorail. I will enjoy it if they do another movie one.

That not what it will diffently look like I just their site artist drawing I still think a brave-o-rail would look better.

As for the cost issue, I'm sure it's not nearly as much as you think. I used to be a marketing manager (before I got laid off) and had to price new graphics for our fleet of trucks and vans. Wrapping one van was maybe $1500. With just needing to do two sides on each monorail car, I figure it can't be more for each car than a regular van which has a front and rear, and lots of corners to worry about. I'd guess it's no more than $10,000 per monorail. While that sounds like a lot, in terms of a marketing budget for a movie, it's a drop in the bucket! At about $10 a movie ticket it doesn't take too many tickets to recoup the cost of a monorail makeover! Its also a lot cheaper than say a billboard on I-4 for the same time period!

Exactly. Corporations are set up so that every bucket of money is completely separate from every other bucket of money. So if they didn't do this, the money couldn't be used for anything else in the parks (e.g. raises/cheaper water/etc). As park fans, we should be happy that they are choosing to use some of the advertising budget at the parks.

I'm another one that doesn't like the idea. I like the monorails just the way they are.

I'm a monorail lover and am all for wraps if done well. I think they're cool. I loved the Tronorail and from the concept art for Avengorail I think it looks cool, too, though I don't think they need to be on the MK loop unless they are MK themed (a Fantasyland expansion wrap, perhaps?)

I agree Disney gets a bang for their buck with the monorail advertising. For relatively cheap, they get advertising that will be seen by tens of thousands of people a day.
My kids were ecstatic when the Tron monorail pulled into the station & they got to ride on it. For them it was a magical moment. :cheer2:

I think this would be AWESOME!!!!! I love Disney and I love Marvel so so even a simple Monorail cover is a win IMO. But I am a memebr of one of the core Marvel Demograpics (18-35 y.o. Male) so it makes sense that I would be a huge fan of the idea....

This is relatively cheap to do, and as far as we know this is coming out of the advertising budget of the film, and has nothing to do with Disney Park's budget. In fact, for all we know, the film paid for this and it's adding money to WDW's budget.

The film pays for this instead of a billboard. People seem to complain the park doesn't spend enough money on changes, but when they do change something people complain about the change.

It's temporary, it doesn't cost guests anything, and it adds something new to WDW. It's win win win.

And in the end, when they remove the wrap, we should have a fairly clean Monorail Red... :)

People loved Tron-o-rail and they'll love Avenger-rail too. The people who usually get the most upset are the purists and like it or not-they are a small group. The casual guests seem to love these kind of things.

Walt Disney World confirmed the Avengers Themed Monorail 10 minutes ago on twitter :goodvibes

Yup..here's the artwork

Edit: Just saw a tweet from Ricky Brigante that this will be restricted to Magic Kingdom beams for contractual reasons. Not absolutely certain why, but I'm betting it has to do with the Universal/Marvel contract, and because the Epcot beam actually goes inside the park, there may be a sticking point about "attractions within the parks" they want to avoid.

I hope this means they will be creating another die-cast limited edition monorail model like they did for Tron!!!
