I'm not sure how true this is, but my sister told me that one of her friends has property in Texas and that he just sold it to Disney. They told him that a new park will be going up there. I'm not sure where in Texas this is, or if it's even true, but just thought I'd pass along what I've heard. Anyone else hear any rumors of a new Texas Disney?

Old, old, old, old, old, old, old, old rumor.
:)

Disney owns property (a large amount ) north of Atlanta, and that same rumor has "floated" for years. I dont look for there to be any "new park" anytime soon. Just my opinion - nothing on authority.

Texas :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

They already have 2 mickey mouse football teams, no more room for one more!!!!!!

the only thing i have ever heard on a new park (and trust me, i am no authority on this whatsoever) was on one of those travel channel shows where they 'go inside' of Disney. The comment was made by a CM that there would be another park. Of course, that could mean anything

The rumors and news board is full of (pick a state) is where Disney owns/just bought land and is building a new park. And usually from someone who knows someone who is a reliable source. :rotfl2:
These rumors have been around for decades.

Living in Texas, you piqued my interest ...

I googled "Disney in Texas" and it came up with numerous articles and sites on the "rumor". Sadly to say as of this day, it is still a rumor.

Disney has property all over the country and in some instances it is for investment only and others it was for true projects that were later scrapped (Virginia). Also, Disney has Radio Disney and ESPN radio stations all over the country that Disney owns the property in the respective states.

If Disney did ever decide to build a new theme park in Texas, it would most likely be in the San Antonio area. It already has an entertainment edge, Sea World and Fiesta Texas (Six Flags). Also, it has the touristy draw (The Alamo and Riverwalk). San Antonio is in the middle of the country pretty equal to DLR and WDW with great year-round weather (except for maybe a few weeks in February). However, at this time ... It does NOT look good for Texas. Disney seems to have even stated, if they start any new major projects, it would be overseas. Are they still going forward with Disneyland in Shanghai, China? Actually, I just googled it. They plan to open Disneyland China in 2014. It wouldn't surprise me if they closed Disneyland Hong Kong once that park opens. That would be a shame. We wanted to get out there once the kids were grown. :dance3:

Have you ever heard the Cowboys Head Coach speak? He talks just like Hank Hill. So, the running joke around here is that he is Hank Hill. :rotfl2:

 Oh don't get DH started. He was borned and raised in the Dallas area. Meaning, he's a Die-hard Cowboys fan.:cheer2: We even had front-row season tickets one year. I am sure he wished he could get back the time he wasted watching them this past season. There's always next year. We just got rid of our Defensive Coordinator and our Offensive Coordinator keeps interviewing with other teams. Next year can only get better (I hope for my husband's sanity and the sanity of the house on days the Cowboys lose.) :scared:

I think we need about two more rumors for new Disney Parks and Disney will become the largest landowner in America, surpassing the Federal gov't! Face it folks, with the possible exception of another land at WDW we're all going to be long gone before Disney builds another park in the U.S.

disney buys property all over as invetments and then sell it I live in texas and in 1999 they bought some land not far from us and then sold it off when land went back up.

Does Disney really buy "property all over as investments" or is this just another urban legend?

Aside from the properties that Disney bought and subsequently sold in Virginia (for Disney's America) and California (for a DVC resort at Newport Coast), I'm not aware of Disney buying and selling property.

Deeds are recorded with local governments. These records are public. If Disney bought land a big parcel of land in Texas or elsewhere, the press would certainly become aware of it. It would be national news because it would involve Disney.

My guess is that the many rumors of Disney buying land in Texas and elsewhere are just rumors. A "for sale" sign goes up on a large parcel of land; when the sign comes down, there's a rumor that Disney bought the property. And when something else gets built on it, there's a new rumor that Disney sold the property.

If someone can point to actual public disclosures of Disney buying and selling real estate as speculative investments, I would be interested. As a public corporation, Disney must disclose their business activities in SEC filings.

Disney does buy land in different parts of the country, but doesn't mean they are going to build on it.... usually like the others said its for investments or sell off later.

The only rumor that I have heard regarding Disney and north Texas is that there is a new "Indoor Ski Resort" in the planning that is to be built north of Fort Worth around the Texas Motor Speedway area.....
yes you read right - Indoor skiing, indoor man-made snow in texas...

Disney does not own the land or has nothing to do with the prodject, but those that help develop new attractions and hotels for disney has been brought on to the prodject to build and design this resort.
