Rumor: Next Tuesday is the last day for the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich

My DH is going to be really disappointed. Our family just loves that location. But now I really don't want to eat there because I don't want to eat a fried chicken sandwich and I don't want to eat a hamburger.

Its truly one of my favorite places to sit and eat. I love sitting towards the back, against the railing and watching the Mark Twain sail down the river. Its one of the more relaxing counter service places IMO. I'm sure we'll still eat there for this reason. But no longer will I actually look forward to the food there. The best part of the turkey sandwich was the roll it was on, no wrap can replace that. And the cupcake was a must have for me. Sure I can eat funnel cake instead but its not nearly as good.

NOOOOOO Not my bumblebee cupcake!! I'm truly distraught right now.. Ughh.

Did anyone notice the the Harbour Galley menu also changed? They got rid of the baked potatoes and roast beef and shrimp salads and replaced them with a single tuna salad and a tuna salad sandwich. They got ride of the broccoli cheddar soup (which had chicken broth.) Still no vegetarian option. And they kept that $15 lobster roll. No way am I buying lobster at what is essentially a fast food stand, and not going to spend $15 on a Disney CS sandwich, either.
Please tell me you are kidding!!! Those baked potatoes were my go-to meal in Disneyland!

Well, there goes my wife's and my go-to lunch...meh, I guess that's the way the fried green tomato sandwich crumbles

It looks like they aren't doing sweet potato fries anymore either.

Hopefully they aren't getting rid of the sweet potato fries at Tangaroa Terrace (at the Disneyland Hotel) too! That's another place with a few unique food items (unique especially for counter service). I'd hate to see its menu become too generic and boring.

I wonder if they really understand that they are slowly cutting out all the veggie options that are any good?

The old veggie burger to sub at Hungry Bear was a black bean burger, and while that's OK, it's NOT what a person is ordering when they order a "veggie burger". IMO. At least at Taste Pilots it was the "malibu burger", but then that's acceptable to me, but it caused one of the biggest food-based tantrums EVER in my son because you could see the veggie in it. (not a loud tantrum, just the longest and it was the last hours of a me&kid trip and it wasn't fun for either of us) etc. Everyone has their own idea of what a "veggie burger" is,and if you're going on the weird side (not boca, not regular gardenburger) you need to state that on the menu.

I'm sorry for the non-veggies who have lost their cupcake. Not sorry for me, though, since I wasn't eating it anyway. Bumblebee cupcake, with NO honey in it just cracked me up (I remember thinking "if it weren't for the gelatin, it would actually be vegan!" when I read the ingredient list LOL...but that's a big "if it weren't for")

I strongly encourage everyone to leave a comment for Disney to let them know how you feel about the menu changes. They need to know how these decisions affect guest experience. CMs have told me many times that for every comment that gets put in, there are at least 40 other guests who agree, but didn't say anything. So each comment counts.

Just sent an email to Disney that we were really looking forward to the Fried Green Tomato Sandwhich this and that unique menu items are a big part of what makes our trip enjoyable. Sad day for our family dining plans! :(

I agree. Remember that, at one point, there were not supposed to be characters in Halloween garb out in the daytime (outside of MHP) -- that was stated in both a press release and, I think, in one of the responses under a Parks Blog. People from the Superthread had already been writing in to Disney about the thin, pitiful Halloween Time offerings this year, and now the new rumor (not officially confirmed as of yet) is that there will be characters in Halloween garb out in Town Square! Also, the goats will have their Halloween scarves and the non-Carnival section of the Ranch is being decorated (which I don't think it was supposed to be). So I suspect that the early email backlash may have had an impact. A CM on Facebook even suggested that everyone write in to Disney about the silly decision to not bring back the pumpkin carvers this year, so I hope that a lot of people took her advice!

Sherry, where could I find the email for that? We had booked our trip with the excitement of the Halloween Time at DLR and the closer it has got the more we have found out about the lacklustre offerings in regards to halloween this year and I want to voice my displeasure.

Wait what? no baked potato too? I have gluten allergy and sadly can't try the fried green tomato sandwich (though it sounds AMAZING!) but I was so looking forward to trying the baked potato. You all can't see me, but I'm pouting like a little kid :headache:

As far as I know, everyone has been using this email form - https://disneyland.disney.go.com/help/email/.

I was pouting too! My daughter came up and started playing with my lip like I do to her. Lol
