Rumor: Next Tuesday is the last day for the Fried Green Tomato Sandwich

I wasn't personally upset about the friend green tomato sandwich as it's not my thing, although I totally understand why people are upset about a unique vegetarian option disappearing.

BUT, that Bumblebee Cupcake. Oh man did I have plans to try one of those bumblebee cupcakes during my trip in a couple weeks. *SOBS*

I ** just ** looked at the Hungry Bear menu on the Disneyland website (https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disneyland/hungry-bear-restaurant/menus/), thinking, "This can't really be true!" But it is! There is NO fried green tomato sandwich anymore on the menu.

Nor is there a regular turkey sandwich anymore. If you want turkey, you have to get their "turkey Caesar wrap." Bleh. I hate wrap sandwiches. And the ONE salad that they have on the menu? It has "strawberry vinaigrette" dressing. That must be the neon pink salad dressing that somebody just talked about.

And yes...no more bumblebee cupcake. Just funnel cakes, ice cream sandwiches, or frozen fruit bars for dessert.

THIS SUCKS!

UUGGHH this makes me sad/mad...FIRST we ALWAYS eat a Goofy's Kitchen for dinner but now they have the same ole characters there all the time, SECOND we wanted to eat at BTRBBQ now they are saying it will be closing, THIRD I REALLY wanted to try this sandwich and now its gone too!!!

Noooooo not the bumble bee cupcake! Oh I'm crushed. Thats my dole whip! I take a picture of it everytime I eat it. My favorite dessert in the parks. I am so sad right now!

This rumor just came in (not really).

Disneyland to dump the Corn Dog carts for stands selling bundles of Kale.

Also, the MonteCristo just has too much fried goodness, so it's being replaced with Tofu Burgers with cucumber chips. Clam Chowder in a bread bowl???? Forget about it! Now it's no-sodium cabbage stew. And Gibson Girl has been boarded up - nothing set to replace it because anything that sweet will give you instant diabetes.

OK, back to reality....this just seems like the government lunch program run amok. When did Michelle and the mayor of New York take over the Disney menus? Please, Disney, just leave the good stuff alone.

We were planning to go to the Hungry Bear next month mostly so DS could see Winnie. The tomato sandwich sounded like a good option for me, but now after checking the menu, I see there are no vegetarian entrees. (The salad they added has turkey.)

We were also planning on going in a couple weeks to try the other salad they just removed and the bumblebee cupcake....we're re-thinking that meal now and will probably find another CS to visit instead. What a shame!

What? What? No more Fried Green Tomatoe Sandwiches? Quick call the travel agent and cancel all our travel reservations. We will not stand for this! What is the world coming too? May have to start going to Six Flags in Ft Worth for vacations :-(

The previous salad has a note on the menu saying it could be made vegetarian. For your sake I hope they at least add a note that they can sub a veggie patty for the burger. Sometimes the seasonal soup at Harbour Galley is vegetarian, so that could be an option, or the kids meal.

Did anyone notice the the Harbour Galley menu also changed? They got rid of the baked potatoes and roast beef and shrimp salads and replaced them with a single tuna salad and a tuna salad sandwich. They got ride of the broccoli cheddar soup (which had chicken broth.) Still no vegetarian option. And they kept that $15 lobster roll. No way am I buying lobster at what is essentially a fast food stand, and not going to spend $15 on a Disney CS sandwich, either.

The whole thing makes no sense, really....seriously...if so many people just on this board loves the tomato sandwich, it stands to reason that statistically it was a popular option in the park. WHY take it out?
Add to that, they've now removed a vegetarian option and the poor defenseless Bumblebee Cupcake! I just don't get it...I wonder if complaining to Disney would help.

After this, offering nothing new at Smokejumpers, getting rid of the awesome flatbread pizzas at dca, and regularly removing the Greek menu over at paradise garden grill, it seems to me disneyland is consciously dropping unique quick service offerings. They are quickly becoming wdw where quick service is a lowest-common-denominator pizza/burger affair.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks this might signal the coming of a dining plan, perhaps to compliment the rollout of MDE/FP+.

Or maybe they're just getting cheap and lazy.

I think it's to increase profits or delay another price increase. A turkey wrap is a lot cheaper than tomato sandwich with multiple unique components. For Harbour Galley it's now a tuna salad and a tuna salad sandwich as opposed to carrying roast beef and shrimp for the salad and 3 fillings for the baked potatoes.

Is this a crazy April Fools' Day joke run amok (and 5 months late)?? Maybe they will bring the sandwich and the cupcake back on a seasonal basis, like for spring and summer next year? (Wishful thinking.)

Although I thought the bumblebee cupcake was adorable, I did think it was lacking in the flavor department, tbh. I had one of those on our first trip and am glad I took a photo of it at this point.

This southern gal is disappointed that they removed the fried green tomato sandwich!

SERIOUSLY!!!! the baked potato was ANOTHER thing I had on my list to try!!!!!!

Clearly, the same lunatic at DLR who decided to not bring back the amazing pumpkin carvers this year (because... why have a pumpkin carving station during Halloween Time??) must be at the helm of this latest sandwich/menu debacle. (Sorry, DLR -- I love you, but sometimes your decisions are crazy!)
