Rumor: new DVC resort on old River Country grounds, north of WL

I would rather see luxury free standing deluxe log cabins, not the OLD WEST designs of Disneyland Paris.

They should think luxurious tree houses, there are not enough of them at SSR.

And if you need a studio, how about a free standing T-PEE kind of structure or rooms in a main lodge?

Then theme the resort to have Native American Indian guides, with the art and music of Brother Bear highlighted in the Deluxe DVC resort.

And WALT would have wanted that railroad built, connected to the two boat launches of Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

And finally make a Wilderness Version of Storm Along Bay, with simulated rapids in the lazy river ride. A mini waterpark that will also have some of the memories of River Country.

A new resort Restaurant on top of the Resort Lobby. With views of the Water and the Tree Tops.

All Upscale, Not low points, but Deluxe points. No Buffalo Junction.
Maybe Buffalo Wings at the Restaurant though !

I like the way you think :goodvibes However, something's bothering me, I can't put my finger on exactly where I've seen the tipi room idea before.
Maybe Sally knows

Hmmm :rotfl:

I love getting sidetracked: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wigwam_Motel

I think the whole point of old west themeing is not so much the love of rustic, but more of "what could spark the imagination more than such a theme"

That said, victorian gingerbread does fit into old west, so it could be quite beautiful...

Thank you for saying that. It jogged my memory, and made me think of a few examples.
The MGM movie, The Harvey Girls. It was old west, railroad, and early Victorian. There are lots of fun and interesting things theme wise in that period.
Technology was just ramping up then. The first telephones etc.
Many of our current traditions for holidays, recipes, etc. can be traced back to this period in time.

I'm having fun reading the different rumors of future DVC locations. I haven't been reading about DVC very long (just bought in this summer), but I haven't seen/heard anyone propose this...

It seems to me that one of the common features of the most popular DVCs is that they have easy (walking) access to a theme park. So how about a DVC adjacent to DHS? Maybe part of the north section of the parking lot could be used, putting it right on the water front. Or what I like better - putting it in the back studio portion of the park, with a private entrance into the park (similar to the private entrance the Grand Californian has into the California Adventure park). It could have an old Hollywood theme to match the park. Maybe this will be a better idea if/when Disney does some major rehab/revitalization of the park. They could plan a big expansion and roll the resort plans right into it.

Most people already consider BCV/BWV to be close to the Hollywood Studios. While BLT has opened close to the park, the actual trend has been expanding existing resorts to add DVC villa's. The only exceptions to this have been DVC flagship resort of OKW and SSR (although SSR could be viewed as converting the old disney institute). So, most people would venture to say that if they add more DVC, it will most likely be to an existing resort.....

True, if Disney Institute hadn't failed or never existed, I wonder what would have replaced SSR as the next DVC offering after BWV/BCV.

I'd rather see more Family Suites than more DVC units. I think Disney is still missing the boat for families of 5 or more who need reasonable accomodations, but aren't regular enough Disney guests for DVC to make sense.

They probably would have gone ahead with Eagle Pines.

Diane: it's an amoeba, and you basically have to snort the water it is in to become infected. It does tend to be limited to shallow, warm waters. You couldn't use RC as a water park without cutting it off from the lake, but you could just fill it in and build on top of it. There would be no more precautions necessary than there already are at any of the other "non-swimming beaches" on Bay Lake and elsewhere.

Makes sense. I just knew that was one of the reasons they closed RC. As for snorting the water there....I did that several times when I managed to let my inner tube go backwards off the slide!

You mean more than there are right now, or more than there will be after the Animation resort is finished?

Cool, I missed that one.

Personally, I think Disney has plenty of DVC rooms and hotel rooms in Florida - other than the family suites. From an owners point of view, too few is way better than too many.

What I would love to see would be a DVC-only resort where the Mediterranean Resort was supposed to be built (on the Seven Seas Lagoon between the Polynesian and the Contemporary).

I'm all for more monorail resorts, too. I've read that it was most recently attempted in the 90s, but abandoned again because the land wasn't quite stable enough, or required a very deep foundation.

Speaking of unstable land, was there ever a final answer on whether BLT II could in fact replace the remaining three story Contemporary wing, particularly given the obvious preference for BLT in the sale figures?

Oh mY! I would totally be all over this! Frontierland is my fave area of the MK! This would be great!! How fun! I sure hope someone can confirm these plans!:goodvibes Thanks, April

I seem to be in the minority - I LOVE the idea of a Wild West type town. Not a cheesy one, but a really well themed one (read: authentic..well, authentic without the prostitutes :cool1:)

A nice saloon with Sassparilla (where you could also fill up your refillable mugs, lol)? A creek where you could pan for "gold"? Lasso lessons from a real cowboy? A real Sheriff who struts down main street? A shootout with no-good-rotten-yellow bellies? A NICE museum with items from back then?

Remember, this is our history. What a great place to show your patriotism and educate your kids!

I know my daughter would give her eye-teeth to wear her cowboy hat and boots all day and talk like "Jesse".

Well, darn, I got myself excited. :rotfl:

Jenny

This has been discussed on other fan sites and from some-one in the know no DVC is planned for the River Country site.
