Rumor Mill: 5th theme park; more to Epcot World Showcase; Star Wars Land in phases?

...and a $3.2 billion bail out of Disneyland Paris kind of kills some capital project/infrastructure funding for the next few years.

Not quite yet...Disney is hoping that new Investors will come in and buy stakes in Euro so that they don't have to take it over...thereby being responsible for paying debt to themselves...

But that's gonna fail. There's almost no chance that they won't end up with 75% or more (a little leftover for the playboy prince) stake...

Which means it will be a whole new accounting setup for the parks unit.

"What's yours is France's... And what's France's is France's"

I do not see that strategery working for the house of mouse. I am not sure there are many investors willing to risk their money on that. And it would take a big "Angel" to take some of that burden off The WDC.

Agreed...

The problem there is that the profit
"Potential" is known after 20 years...

There isn't one - only losses and the very minimal amounts of profits in the "best of times"

Eisner and wells just wanted it too bad... They forced it to Paris in what they thought was a show of prestige...
And the. Eisner doubled down with an awful resort, downtown, and the worst/cheapest park in Disney history.

If the locals already don't like you /distrust you...then you can't feed them crapola.

They should have put it in Spain where they would have begged Disney to come with Incentives...and better weather.

They may have even developed a new market for their expanding Latin American clientele in Florida...

This is a bandaid on a bullet wound... I fear.

While I know there is press to the contrary (and his supposed naming of a successor coming), but maybe they'll offer Iger a 3rd extension, to go through the 50th and 5th gate opening in 2021? This would put him at 69. Not unreasonable.

Just trying to stir the pot... :)

No thank you...

A new parks and resorts head would be nice too

I actually think it's more than likely...

The one quality that corporate heads ALWAYS share is ego...

If Iger is still regarded in 2 years as a guy who is taking one of America's most established/ recognizable brands and making huge profits for its stock owners...

He ain't goin' NOWHERE

I agree it's very likely he'll still be here but I just wish he wasn't.

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but anyone else think Staggs is being groomed to be the new Iger?

If you read the articles when he signed his extension...you only BARELY have to read between the lines to see that they come right out and say it...

Exactly him or rasulo both have been in CFO and in head of parks roles. Disney is expected to name a COO next year and that is what Iger was before Iger became CEO.
