Rumor I heard about Signature APs yesterday + park pics

Yesterday I was told by someone that goes to DL even more than I do (she seems to know several CMs, so that lent her story credence) that Signature APs (the one I have) may have more blockout days when I renew it than it did last year. As it stands now, the two weeks at Christmas are blocked. That's fine because I'm home in Chicago at that time anyway. In short, it makes no difference to me. But she pointed out something that's on the back of my pass (and all APs, presumably): "...with pre-specified , revocable privileges, which may be changed or cancelled at any time without notice." Yikes. She mentioned that when Star Wars Land opens, my pass may be blocked; I may not be allowed to go on opening day. Obviously, that may or may not happen, but it strikes me as rather mean spirited. I come to DL all the time -- I'm a loyal guest. But when SWL opens, I may not be allowed to come. Who knows? But hopefully this or something like it never comes to pass.

Despite that, it was a great time at the park yesterday. It started while in line at the gate. There was a very nice mom and her two daughters (about 8 and 9) behind us. I love kids and we asked them what ride they planned to go on first. To no one's surprise, they said "Peter Pan!" I suggested that they follow us, since we're usually first on the ride. I promised that I'd do whatever I could to make sure they were first that day.

Half an hour later after rope drop, I managed to be first in line for PP. I let the girls and their mom have my place. They'd never been first on the ride and I think/hope it made their day. I'll always surrender my first-place spot to kids when/if they're nice.

Later, I did well on Buzz. On my last ride of the day, I was able to break 2M on both guns. However, I took one shot too many on one of them and lost my score on that side (if you exceed about 2,096,000, your score will reset and you'll start back again at zero). But at least I know my true score.

I didn't sleep well the night before and only got about two hours of sleep. But I worked to make it a great day, irrespective of this challenge.

First in the park -- saw Mickey from afar.

L7 on both sides :-).

This was the ride -- my last of the day -- where I broke 2M on both sides but went slightly over 2,096,000 on the left and lost my score. Otherwise, both scores would have displayed somewhere above 2M. #FirstWorldProblems ;-)

Love hearing how you share the magic with others.

It will be interesting to see if they’ll be restrictions when SWL opens.

Darn those scores being reset on Buzz. But love seeing your high scores !

It’s really starting to feel mean spirited. My SoCal pass now has all Sunday’s blocked in Oct and Dec. So, I’m either going to have to pay, take my kids out of school, or go in the month the holiday isn’t actually in to see the Halloween and Christmas offerings. This seems very unfair and mean spirited, especially since they also upped the price. Less days for more money. Not cool.
I will love Disney forever, but I look forward the day when they have someone in charge again who remembers what it’s all about- not the money.

Thanks :-). I have a love/hate relationship with the ride. I love it, but sometimes -- like when scores are reset or don't come through with the photo -- it can drive me crazy.

Disney already announced back in February with the price hike that changes are coming to the AP program. I think this will likely mean separate blockout calendars for DL and DCA and that all but the Sig Plus will see additional blackouts. The passes no longer get sold with a marker on them that says valid for x number of days like they did in the past so Disney is able to change the blockout calendar based on their needs.

I'm not very happy about this but, on the grand scale, there are bigger problems. Hopefully this won't impinge (very much) on my weekly Sunday visits. That's one of the main reasons that I bought the Signature AP.

I have a hunch they will try hard not to surprise people with last minute changes to existing APs. More than anything, I expect them to redesign the entire AP landscape very soon so people will be renewing into a new set of options with more limits already in place.

This rumor has been around fot a few months. Most likely the CM saw the rumor online. As others have said changes are coming soon. I'm thinking by September. A little surprised they haven't happened yet since Star Wars likely opens in about a year. BUT with the wordage on the new passes and a block out calendar unset for next summer, they still habe flexibility to make changes.

I'm hopeful they'll have more choices in passes and create a new kind of flexible pass. But we'll see. Our APs expire in June and we'll probably take an 18 to 24 month break from Disneyland vacations. I'll miss it, but I want to take the kids to LEGO land next year (before they're too old) and next summer will be crazy at DL with GE opening.

This coming Sunday is our first park day- I don’t think we will join you for the zest walk to PP as we will have our 19 month olds and want to start them on easiest rides possible to hope for success (IASW anyone :) ) but will try to say hi if we see you :)

MY youngest liked small world the best last trip

There have been rumors of either AP’s being blocked out of SWL only, or out of DL but having access to DCA on some days during next summer. That’s been around for a while. We are just shy of our renewal window and I’m hoping to squeak by before a major price increase or restructuring happens. Although after the $120 increase we just got hit with, I can’t image they will hike it again in the summer this year. I don’t really care about Star Wars, just Mickey lol. I’ll gladly hand over my SW access to someone else!

Please do! I'm almost always at the rope on the right (as you look at the castle) at RD. I usually wear a blue Cubs cap.

I think that instead of blocking Signature passes out during SW:GE, what will likely happen is they will have separate block outs and the Signature pass will be blocked out of Disneyland, but still have DCA open. They appear to be going to a system like CMs have where they can block out of 1 park but not both. With the new wording added back in Feb of "Visit both theme parks on the same day most days of the year*", I see this change coming soon...

I seems as though Disney is already adjusting blackout days for annual passes. Here's a good example. I have a select pass, and last August it was open to use the last two weeks, but the first week Friday was blocked, this year the last "two" Fridays are blocked. Also next April has more blocked Fridays than this year had. After this Friday, I am blocked through early June for all Fridays. Different than last year. I don't mind as it's still a great deal, but they are already changing the blocked days it seems.

We will have a good estimate to when SWL will open by when the AP changes are announced.

Not an AP holder but I find it all so interesting... maybe I will someday. Right now raising Little’s in Iowa.

See I keep hearing "experts" say they estimate late May. Well that ship has sailed for AP changes! I thought the same thing, but who knows. I think they just changed the language on the AP so they can change it at any time, no more "contract" its the wild west.

Beware, beware! We said, "Maybe, someday," too. Then came the year that every relative from anywhere came to visit in a 12 month period. So we said, "Well, why not? Financially, it makes sense to get the passes this year ONLY." Ha! Then, Disney sucked us right into their vortex. NB that was many moons ago, and we're still APs. LOL.
