Rumor-Disney is ordering a new monorail fleet-how much do we expect Monorail DVC dues to be impacted

I agree with auroraborealis, that would a capital expense not an operation transportation expense. We don't get charged extra every time Disney purchases new buses. I hope she is correct and the transportation costs decrease because of less repairs will be needed with the new monorails.

I hope that is correct. I assumed since the monorail is The more of transportation to MK and Epcot from the monorail resorts we would have to pay for the necessary improvements. I did not realize that we only pay for the operation cost of the other modes of transportation such as buses. Hopefully that holds true for the monorail as well.

Judging by what they've done in other places, I would expect the new trains to be completely automated (driver-less).

Someone else stated that the current ones already are. They just have a body there to over see. Just ask Elon Musk how great autopilot is on Tesla’s. He now states it is not perfect and never will be. Don’t recall him saying that when he introduced it.

His goal has always been to be 10 times safer than human-piloted cars, and he’s pretty close to that goal. But we’re dealing with an entirely different universe with closed-loop rail-based transportation.

Monorails were last fully rehabbed or replaced in 1989, 18 years after WDW opened. The Mark VI have been operating now for nearly 30 years, even with excellent maintenance, they are reaching the point where replacement is less expensive than constant repairs, given the extreme daily usage at WDW.
